I loved that show. Man, last time I watched that was when I was like 9.
Sundays, Herc followed by Xena. <3

dude i got it all on DVD :), though... i gotta admit, Xena was a far better show all around, but Herc's just some good ole fun

I see the desire to not have Herc though. Thor is the god. The Asgardians are the Gods. Having more, would be overkill. Not only that, it would hurt the image of Thor, having another god. We need only ONE god as an avenger. His name is Thor Odinson

i don't necessarily agree with that. Infact... im willing to bet when thor takes a break from the MCU (probably after ragnorok) we then will probably get hercules.

I could see Marvels Herc eventually making it to the big screen but it would be way down the road possibly beyond phase 5 or 6.

A buddy of mine wrote the "A2 Treatment" post that gives a possible scenario for how IM gets involved in Ultron's creation. It's pretty smart. You should give it a read.

Decent treatment, but it's all about the how, who, what and where but very lacking in the why. That's what I keep looking for in all these "Tony Stark obviously creates Ultron" scenarios.....nobody has come up with a plausible reason about *why* this robot suddenly becomes superduper and megagenocidal. So Tony builds this, and suddenly, for no apparent reason, it becomes an invincible mass murderer that neither Stark nor anyone else can get a handle on?

He addressed that in the treatment, I thought. The AI had orders, and it sought to carry them out no matter what. When the Avengers attacked, it saw them as a threat, and so on.

Given the ending of IM3, I like the idea that Tony creates an automated IM shell that fights with the Avengers. Makes sense that it would be the seed for what eventually becomes Ultron.

Ultron logs onto YouTube, watches a 10 hour My Little Pony/Star Wars mashup video, and decides that humanity has run its course

Coming up with Ultron's origin and motivation is Joss Whedon's job. At this point I am content to wait for the film to actually come out (or, more likely, spoilers to leak) to get the details.

Yeah but then he comes across a One Direction video and decides humanity must be destroyed. :o

You're right. As Whedon said in the commentary, he didn't want JARVIS to be this prissy C3P0 type. When Tony and he are in the thick of it, they act as one unit almost.

Aw, poor 3PO. People have really turned on him in the last ten years or so.

And call it Marvel's Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. :oldrazz:

Great now I've got the theme song stuck in my head

Aye, you speak the truth.

As for le Herc discussion. Even with the cartoon Herc movie being bodaciously awesome, I still don´t think he fits in.
Especially with the new Herc/Rock movie that´s comming. I don´t want the Rock in mcu (wrong associatiations) and no it´s not the same as Drax being played by Dave.
Also, I am not very fond of mixing in more mythologies. We already have the Asgardians. I am fine with having them because of Thor´s huge part in TA and the Asgardian world being told in large quantities and of great quality. The whole 9 realms thing is awesome! I am talking about the comics but Thor´s intro before TA in mcu is also important.

I wish they could take it more deep to cosmic level :)

...That would do it. Makes sense to me.

If that video exists I want to see it haha. I like that treatment. It would be interesting if for A3 we get a West Coast team, just so its not too cluttered. Do you guys think that A2 will make sense without watching the other Phase 2 movies? I feel like in TA you could have gotten away without watching the Phase 1 movies and not have a ton of questions.

I think for TA1, Thor (oddly enough) would've been the only required viewing before the movie. The other backstories were pretty well laid-out already, or were already familiar to mainstream audiences (Hulk, Iron Man, Captain America). Having a Thor/Loki-centric storyline for Avengers would've probably been confusing to those who didn't watch that movie.

As for AoU, it remains to be seen which movie(s) will feed the storyline the most. I've read in several interviews that CATWS fills that bill, but the "Stark builds Ultron" crowd don't seem to understand or want that. And unless there's some cosmic origin for Ultron's powers, I doubt TDW or GOTG will have anything whatsoever to do with AoU. Although I have to imagine that TDW *has* to have some kind of linkage, because it will be hard to justify a plot line to bring Thor back just to fight a robot.

I agree. Thor was the only really "required" viewing before Avengers.

And yes something is going to have to happen in TDW to bring Thor back to earth. He'll need a reason to be here beyond Ultron.

The reason is easy... Earth is attacked yet again in TDW. He's grown quite find of humans. He'd want to protect them

Hercules might work as a foil for Thor; in a Thor movie. for instance, Thor could have to visit one of the realms that houses the greek gods. and Zeus' rambunctious half-breed son might pick a fight with Thor just to test his mettle. my pick would be Kellan Lutz since he's of equivalent age to Hemsworth and has a good frame to bulk up with.

Joe Mangelliano and NO ONE ELSE.

Herc can't be a pretty boy, he's not Apollo.

he's a rugged, beer chugging manly man

One obvious tie-in from TDW is that, since the bifrost gets rebuilt, travel to Midgard will be less costly (in terms of dark energy conjurations). But to tie Thor directly to Ultron, one possibility would be if Ultron utilizes Asguardian-based tech, such as SHIELD's Destroyer-based guns.

As for how TWS relates to this, I think that the tenuous relationships between SHIELD, the government, and the Avengers will come crashing down in TWS. I'm not exactly sure what the resulting configuration will look like, but I think it will create the type of environment in which Ultron can realistically be created by one of these parties.

Come to think of it... "Phase 2 is SHIELD used the Cube to make weapons". Ultron, is that you? After all, "The world is filling up with people that can't be matched, that can't be controlled."

or an overgrown frat boy; which would fit perfectly within the MCU-Thor's world.

besides Joe Mangelliano (and i'm not against the casting) is no less pretty than Kellan Lutz. and i, personally, think the latter looks like Marvel's version of Hercules.

I'd definitely be more inclined to believe that SHIELD (unwisely) built Ultron than Tony Stark, who has absolutely no visible reason to get back into the weapons business and DEFINITELY no visible reason to build a weapon for his archnemesis, Nick Fury. Still, I'm convinced that the TWS connections to AoU that are hinted at involve Arnim Zola, a disembodied AI with expertise in robotics (and, not coincidentally, using the Cube to make weapons), since he's still the "wild card" in that movie who has yet to be addressed. (Just like Killian was downplayed the entire time leading up to the actual release of IM3, when we found out that he was, in fact, the primary villain.)

Im starting to think ultron is not created as a weapon by tony. But as an iron man replacement for him

No to Lutz,
Joe Mangelliano looks mediteranian, Joe and no-one else! lol
