They have changed the color of superman symbols a lot of times. He's been around a long time do you think he's stayed the same

The Flash logo has went through even less changes than the Superman one though. The only real noticeable change was the unnecessary simplifying of it for the otherwise excellent Bruce Timm animated format, where they made it two pronged instead of 3 pronged and it looked more like a battery logo or a stylized letter "s" or "N" instead of something The Flash would wear.

Yes plenty.

Really!? A few examples please.

The same thing happens in comics, they're improvised time to time often in the editing room. There's no reason why many of the things that are mainstays in the comics could not work in live action. Comics are just scripts with storyboards.

Except comics do not have to drop things because they don't work with real life. Scripts do. If something is perfect on paper in comics, real life is not a concern, the non comic reading audience is not a concern, it's good to go. Scripts, have all these concerns. The fact that you think real life is a non factor explains your viewpoint eloquently. You believe the real world can be like comic books, which suggests you place the source material on a pedestal even over reality.

Which is why when people "disrespect" the source material, you feel free to insult them, because Flash is more important than the real people in this thread anyway. Flash is real, Flash is true, the posters here? They're just useless opinions.

You admitted that you find other people's opinions laughable, and you don't see why people have an issue with that?

Not the concept that people have other opinions laughable, which is what you're trying to say that I'm saying, but some of the other opinions themselves, yes, I do find some of them laughable, as some may find mine I'm sure.

One could argue the reason The Flash's logo hasn't gone through as many revamps is because he's been featured in less comics, cartoons, films, toys, merchandise, etc. More exposure, more change. Hell, look at Batman, how many logos has he gone through?

Yeah, Barry's a nerd, the lightning bolt is SO his idea. It would be cool if the ear bits acted as a sort of energy exhaust system as he's running or something like that.

Yeah, I definitely think the ear pieces were his idea. Man, I can't wait for this series to air. :woot:

While I agree that Flash's costume could be translated almost directly to live action and fairly easily these days and look fantastic, I also am more than willing to accept other peoples designs for the costume, the costume designers here have an opportunity to provide their take on The Flash that isn't tied to one design by continuity with the comics or forced to be unrecognizable as Flash due to some weird story arc, I have some issues with the design the costume designers came up with, but I also like quite a few things about it, and I'm not gonna condemn it just because the costume designers used some creative freedom and make their addition to The Flash's history something recognizable as their own while still definitely The Flash.

I'm willing to accept a design that's not the comics suit only if I see it and something clicks with me and I see it as an improvement, as superior. Let them have at it if they really think they have a better design, and if they come up with one, I say great, they should use it. But if it's not better then no, I don't think they should use it unless there's some sort of end goal and that's just part of the journey to it. IMO.

KS, you have to be more tolerant of people's opinions on something as trivial as this. They aren't laughable. This issue isn't complicated or part of any larger problem. It's not worth bashing people's opinions over.

That's true but it is already so simplistic and designy the way it is that anything you do to it, if you take something away it becomes too simple, and if you add to it it becomes too much, it's a rare thing to find creatively. Kind of why I suspect that whoever designed the logo felt the most they could do tweak wise was just to make it shorter at one end than the other (which kind of reminds me of Captain Marvel even more in a way).

Anyone with a functioning brain and is even the least bit artistic.

You are getting personal for no reason with people. Offline the way you are responding would start a shouting match or worse.

No matter how we slice it our attachements to these fictional characters in the end are not based insome kind of absolute rationallity or logic. These are things we are emotionally invested in. So your reaction to this all is valid... Calling others stupid for disagreeing with you is not. It's also really bad form. I get that you feel strongly but you don't seem to understand that you are not doing your view any favors acting this way.

As much I hate these type of threads, maybe there should be a costume thread, separate from this. I know costume threads tend to flame out like a supernova, but it'd be nice to remove it from the Barry Allen page, so we can discuss the character, and not just the outfit he wears.

I agree. If you wanna ***** about the suit, do so elsewhere. Let's get back to the topic at hand, Barry Allen. Characterization, his potential arcs, the relationships he will have, etc.

For God's sake, can we change the conversation, please?

Here, let me start: What do you guys think the villains costumes will look like?

Well, Captain Cold would seem the most straight-forward. For the longest time, the CW has loved using hoods as costumes. They should be giddy with anticipation about Cold's look.

Would have liked more red in the costume, less leather, and I'm fine with the symbol.

I like it, but could have been better using the material used for the Spidey films with brighter colors.

Still excited for the show.

You honestly think they wouldn't still design their own suit for the movie?

Oh yeah good point, they probably would. But still seeing this new suit kinda turned me off a bit on the idea of merging those worlds..
It does look better in the still of course though.

That question would be more appropriate in the Villains Bar thread. But yeah I'm really interested to see how they handle Captain Cold, Reverse Flash, and Mirror Master's suits.
