This brand spanking new cover artwork by Lee Bermejo looks very similar to Mark's description of the new batsuit posted a little while back on Forbes:

"... yes the bat-suit will be black and gray. I’ve been told it’s a sort of fabric uniform — not cloth or spandex, mind you — similar to what Captain America wears in the Marvel movies, with some armoring mixed in."

Independent artist Shawn Reeves also recently commented that the ears on the suit are very short, much like in the pic below.

God, that looks great (minus a couple of nitpicks I have). Is that just a pin-up he did, or for a new story?

^ not sure if i care for the shoulder pads too much. Also, just a few less seams would deliniate this suit from the jigsaw suit of the last movie. I mean this is nowhere near that, but its starting to go that way a bit.

Yeah, something like that would be good - just not in that meterial (for the bodysuit). I think the bodysuit should be a stretch fabric something like the Avengers Cap suit, and not something that looks like leather.

And I'd just like the shapes on the bodysuit to be a bit more organic rather than angular.

And no bulky knee armour!

These artist definitely have the "in" when it comes to the Batsuit that's going to be used in the film. Wouldn't be surprised if this is partially based on it.

The film suit may look similar, but as we've seen with the MOS, the suit was only similar to the new 52 suit in that it didnt have trunks...thats about it. I dont think the comics have to have any influence or are telling of the film suits at all.

That's true for the most part. It's still very much the typical Bermejo suit but they do start to adapt minor flourishes. After the movie comes out I'm sure they'll even adapt more.

Just take a look at Nu52 Bane.

When Kevin Smith opined that the suit could be Lee influenced, I can't help but wonder if (some of) his audience members got their Lees mixed up.

If we get something similar to that Lee Bermejo art above I'll be a very happy Batman fan, though I still admit I'm not a fan of the short short ears, I don't mind them shorter but not that short.

GAHHHHHHHHHHH I love this arrrrghhh from whence does this AMAZING image come? I've been searching the whole interwebs for bases for Flecking and this is just AMAZING.

Sorry. Must calm myself. Best way to calm myself = putting Ben Affleck's face into that image. Will do so now.

Also, as to:

I can only hope and pray that that's the Batman we're getting. If you notice, it's the New 52 suit, but Bermejo'd. Same gauntlets and lines as on the new 52, but with his style. I think it looks GREAT. Is it my fav? No, you guys know I like him sleeker than that. But I think it hits all of the basics - including the white eyes (duck for cover!) The ears are fine. If that's the suit we get... GAME ON. Will give that a good Flecking after I'm done with the above image.

You know I can say what I will or won't like that but the fact of the matter is that I don't know until I see Batfleck in a photo and in motion. Yeah I say I don't want the white eyes or whatever but if the costume designer can make them work I will change my mind.

Right? Such an upgrade over the puzzle suit. And the ruggedness of Bermejo's design has really grown on me. This latest pic fixes everything about the old one that I didn't like - particularly the way the symbol works, and the too-angry cowl (although I get why that worked for Noel). This takes all the stuff that worked about that design and applies it to a suit that is more neutral. I dig it. The cowl especially works for Fleck's face, as I will soon demonstrate

Here are some quick Fleckings of the CG 52 suit that someone posted earlier. In the interest of peace and tranquility, it's got both options for the eyes...

And here's the Bermejo one... this suit ROCKS for Fleck. I think some of the ones I posted a couple pages ago are better, but whatever. It's setting our hopes too high to expect a truly 100% traditional suit will be what we get. A combination of Bermejo and New 52 is MORE than good enough, and probably more appropriate to the slightly more brutal weary and tech (drone?) oriented Batman we've been hearing about...
