If we get a hard cowl that's fixed in one position, I prefer it like this:

I think that's the happy medium right there. TOO much of a scowl doesn't work IMO.

Random question, but what are you guys thoughts on the permanently furrowed brow on the cowl? Yay or nay?

It's been a part of the cowl pretty much since the beginning, although, for a long while, as Dick Sprang and his contemporaries portrayed it the scowl was more or less just drawn on the cowl. I think the perma-brow (!) adds to his character, but a little more flexibility couldn't hurt.

I wasn't sure myself, but Affleck's mole appears to be present in the original manip.

Really guys? You know I wouldn't ever make a manip without Affleck's face! ;) (even if the face insertion job sucks!) haha

That particular pic of his face just fit like such a charm that even I was so surprised at how seemlessly it went into Vigilant's cowl.

This is what the face on Vigilant's batman looks like:

I'm good with the cowl scowls, but to me, it seems over the course of the films that the scowl keeps getting softened...like Wolverine's hair throughout the X-Men films. By X3, he just had a pompadour. By TDKR, Bats had these silly doe eyes.

Maybe a combo of molded scowl for farther shots/action and a thin latex with servos for movement with the close-ups. It's all doable...just depends on where they wanna take it.

I hope that he works the suit like Keaton did.

Keaton really gave a cool performance as Batman, with such presence that it completely overshadowed his physical limitations.

It's funny; Keaton and Bale both said they felt like idiots wearing the absurd costumes--but ultimately Keaton just had the better solution to the problem. He basically became a sociopath when he put the thing on. He wore the suit like it didn't matter that it was ridiculous, like his character didn't even notice--where Bale's entire performance was based around the idea that he had to do something over the top to match the absurdity of the costume.

I'm still not feeling the idea of the white eyes glowing look.

It might not work, but I'd like to see them try.

Consider we've never ever have got it yet in live action (Pruitt Building doesn't count).

It's too Iron Man to me.

And I don't know why Batman would want his eyes to glow anyway. Can't really hide when you're essentially wearing flashlights for eyes. :hehe:

Just make them white without illumination.

For live action, the white eyes would only really work in a Gotham like Schumacher's, where everything has Neon lights to it.

Yeah, Keaton's Batman really did come off as someone who would mess you up if you looked at him wrong while he was in a bad mood. Bale, sort of, but then you'd laugh once he started talking to you.

Nah, people can make it work in a film with a different tone from those. It's all about execution.

If they were to use the white eyes in contacts, it would help in disgusing bruce even more as to not show his true eye color.

I hope that he works the suit like Keaton did.

I would LOVE to see a modern take on the 89 suit, on a guy with a frame like Affleck's (note, I'm not saying I want that for this movie).

Something with the style of the 89 suit but sleeker and more flexible and with modern materials - basically the best version of it they could do today.

I realise that he had to do it because of the inflexibility of the suit, but am I think only one who still finds the 'Keaton full body Bat turn' so damned cool to watch? And I still love the '89 cape - reminds me of the leathery wings of, yes, you guessed it - a bat. Cowl, gauntlets, cape, abs, boots, yellow oval. Yeah, I think its same to say that I still love the '89 suit. Still remember the 1st promo images of Keaton in the suit, just standing there next to the Batmobile. So, so cool:-

Yeah the latex (it was latex and wool, not leather) cape looked great, really reminded one of a bat's wing membrane - it's just a pity you can't have such a material and ALSO have it be light and flowy.

Here's a weird thought I just had - what if Batman had a cape that looked like black leather but when it was fully stretched out and had a light behind it it actually let a little light through - like real skin? I'm not saying they should do that, just that it could be a cool image.

I actually made this a while ago - my quick manip of what a slimmed down '89 cowl would look like:

^ Very nice. Slimmer is better when it comes to cowls.
