BvS The Batsuit Thread - - Part 18

Like some people in other batsuit threads, they have picked up on how Bruce looks somber, and battle-scarred. I find myself agreeing with their perspective. It may be intentional but it's still there.

Are you serious?

The Begins/TDK cowl had no technological features. It was built in the film as a helmet of sorts and did nothing that resembled being "techy". Even if you bring up the lenses, the lenses seemed more of a last minute add-on as we see Bruce building the Sonar system via government contracts.

Other than the lenses he had listening devices built into the cowl and also an electric safeguard.

Love it. Those Gauntlets are a thing of beauty. Minor nitpicks - wish the bat symbol was a different material than the suit and a bit darkwe though once we see it in full color we'll know more. Wish it were slightly less bulky. Otherwise? Perfection.

But...it's not bulky at all?

I'm sure some kevlar plates on top of a fabric body suit would do just the trick against an alien with immeasurable strength! :whatever:
It's like the comic don't have these two characters coexist in the same universe where it isn't plausible. :whatever:

For the new thread

Well, I'm late to the party...but my first thought is...I like!

But I would like a clearer/more colorful photo!

It's like the superman suit reveal where they shadowed his crotch, lol.

I'm confused as to how people find this suit "bulky". It looks lean and mean. ESPECIALLY when compared to other batsuits. Guess you can't please everyone.

Wasn't really going to post around hears no more, but I have to say...Batfleck suit reveal is beast! Don't tell Jennifer I have this urge to lick the crevice on the bat chin :hubba

PS does the fact that the suit does not cover his very distinctive chin point to a plot where Bruce Wayne is not a public figure?

/me fading back out

I wish they had left the texture off of the bat symbol as well...same with the \S/. Leave some battle scars on it and it would be just fine.

SO glad the ears are short and it's more of a fabric rather than an armor. Or so it looks.

I always disliked how high up the ears started in the previous series. I gotta get a front look to this one.

Hoping that the colors reveal that dark navy. The grey part already looks grey so no worry there.

Other than the lenses he had listening devices built into the cowl and also an electric safeguard.

I'm pretty sure the listening device was separate from the cowl, since I recall Bruce trying it before putting on the cowl. As for the electric safeguard, I completely forgot that. But is that really techy?

It's the midsection. My friends kept saying how Affleck looks bulky in the torso. I think it might be the camera angle more than anything.

This guy is such a *****ebag.

It's the same kind of crap alot of the more aggresive Marvelites have been spouting for months. It's annoying, but it's fair play.

The pose suggests more bulk than is really present, I think. The arms appear to be less enhanced than on other Batsuits, for instance.

"Battle-scarred" isn't an emotion.

Begins had the built-in transmitter in the ear. As seen when Bruce was putting it in the cowl and him using it during the, I believe, Rachel/Crane talk.

In TDK he has not only the lenses but the anti-removal shock seen right after he crashes the bat-pod in the stand down with Joker.

Hi-tech capabilities in two cowls that don't "look" hi-tech.

So what's going on with the neck? There's a giant fold that extends all the way up to the ear.

You see him place the listening device into the cowl's ear. And yes, I'd say anything like that is techy. What do you want, a fold-out laptop on his forehead? What would you consider techy? You've already dismissed the lenses because he added them later and was not stock when bought from the superhero supply store.

Can anyone figure out what the texture of the suit is? Is it the same material they used for the MoS suit?

Manhattan's eyes were white, which questions the people that said that white eyes will never work because it's emotionless. As for Rorschach, he's stoic, but the scene in Watchmen where he's vengeful of the guy who killed the little girl is pretty damn emotional.

White eyes work fine...with an emotive face. With a static cowl like Batman, the eyes add so much more. Cover them and you lose a vital part of the actor's ability to emote. And the vengeful scene in Watchmen had a lot to do with music, atmosphere and overall context. We still couldn't see the actor emote or express anything really (not to say it can't be done, but why lose those things if you don't have to?)

Why is everyone on about blue/navy? The blue was only used in the comics as artistic license (ie.a means of highlighting the black of the cape/cowl.)

Cowl - Excellent (Need to see it's mobility though. Glad it doesn't have white lenses.)

Suit - Excellent (Love that it's textured material to match Supes. Also no trunks FTW)

Gloves - Great (The padded knuckles look like they'd really f you up in a fight)

Belt - Awesome (Simple and elegant design, that actually appears to have usable compartments. Love that ti appears to be the same color as the cowl and cape New 52 style.)

Symbol - Great (Not to in your face like the Burton ovals, but not to sunken in and hidden like the Nolan suits. It appears to be just right).

Over all. Bravo Mr. Wilkinson. You've done a great job.

That cowl looks so friggin'...weird. Looked it in the movies too.

It is a great day! The Batsuit has been revealed, and it's just about all I could have hoped it would be. If the suit is grey against a black cowl, symbol and gloves, it's status as the best movie Batsuit will be cemented, though I'm already inclined to give it that accolade.

People have talked about how the Batsuit is very Miller, and I agree, but for me it's also very Greg Capullo, with the seams, the texture of the fabric, and the shape of the cowl. And Batman himself looks like a tank, an old brawler.

If I had any nitpick, it's that we've regressed back to the sculpted cowl that will stop Affleck from being able to turn his head. But I can understand and respect why they did that. The TDK cowl is more practical, but this kind of cowl is just more visually appealing.

I'm very happy. And, if nothing else, we know Ben Affleck is going to LOOK great as Batman.
