Of the names mentioned, Corenswet would be my favorite for Superman. Tom Britteny is a decent actor, but looks like Jai Courtney to me and Andrew Richardson at least visually is a no for me.

Rachel Brosnahan is my favorite by far for Lois, but Im fine with the other actresses outside of the Bridgerton chick.

Richardson's features are a little too soft for my taste. His face reminds me a lot of Charlie Cox.

What I like about Corenswet is that he isn't so chiseled and angular as Cavill. He's got a bit more meat on his bones.

David is an excellent choice for Superman. My personal choice for Lois would be Samara Weaving, but it's mainly because I'm a huge fan of her other work. Hoult as Lex is good too.

Of the names mentioned by Hollywood reporter, he's the best choice imo.

I also don't see him as being like Cavill at all.

And Brosnahan being up for Lois Lane with an apparently good screentest is Chef's kiss:bigeyes:.

If this is our Lois and Clark , sign me up for the Superman Legacy Hype train

Hoult is unequivocally a better fit for Lex than he is for Clark. There isn't a single shred of "midwestern farm boy" to be found in that man at all.

I agree but I would much rather Cooper to be cast than Hoult, so my far fetched hope is that Cooper is already Lex and they were considering Hoult for Superman (but went with Corenswet).


I really like the idea of Hoult as Birthright/Smallville Lex. If they’re going with a Lex who is the same age as Superman, then you can’t do much better than Hoult.

I trust Gunn's instincts but I would really prefer a Lex that is at least 10 years older than Clark.

If they are cast, that is just crazy. They are two of the top fancasts for the role. Gunn really listening to fans here if true… love to see it.

To get the general audience I think Gunn and WBD will cast a certain way for Supes. I think they want to get the Top Gun Maverick fan treatment for this movie. Gunn will listen to the fans but he also will look at what made films like Maverick make so much money.

David Corenswet is too perfect for the role, it needs to just happen. I was never a fan of Cavill for the role. Cavill’s name came up for Superman on the Hype clear back in 03 (maybe sooner), and I never liked the idea. 20 years later and my opinion hasn’t changed. He just doesn’t have the chops. That’s why he didn’t get the role in Returns, and why his acting career hasn’t taken off as much as it should have. Looking back at popular fancasts of the time, Jim Caviezel should have gotten a shot at Superman. But at this point, Corenswet is the popular fancast AND he has the chops AND he is American. They should get this guy locked in for at LEAST 1 Superman trilogy and 1 JL trilogy.

I like this idea, but I wouldn’t put Pace as Batman on the same level as Corenswet as Superman. Fans have been surprisingly in support of Corenswet from the beginning. The Batman fan casting is split into more camps IMO.

Though they are likely aged out, part of me still wants Jon Hamm and Willem Dafoe as Batman and Joker. I think they would be so close to fitting my ideal look for both characters.

If it’s Corenswet or someone in his age range, Mackey strikes me as a bit too young for Lois.

Lois being younger than Clark just doesn’t track for me. Same age or a bit older makes much more sense for someone of her career status.

Was anyone else having issues with the Hype the past few days or was it just me? I’ve been dying to post about this since the news broke. If Corenswet and Brosnahan are cast, I would be absolutely over the moon. It’s rare to just have ONE of your favorites picked but to have both of them would be simply amazing. I trust Gunn to make the right decision but honestly if he passes on either of them I would be a little worried about this film. They’re perfect for these roles.

As for the others… I like Emma Mackey a lot and she would probably be my second choice for Lois out of this group, but she feels a little young for it. I like Lois being a little older than Clark. Samara is awesome and I want to see her in a CBM role but I don’t think this is the right one. Bridgerton actress did nothing for me on that show and she would be a miscast.

As for the other Superman candidates… if Hoult is in contention for Superman and he got it, I wouldn’t complain because the guy is a great actor. I’ve seen him in a lot of things and I can confidently say he is the best actor in the entire group. Though I still prefer Corenswet and I think Hoult as Lex or another villain could be pretty epic. I like Elordi a lot too but again, he just doesn’t feel as natural of a fit as Corenswet does. And he excels at darker characters so… maybe save him for the next Batman or someone along that line. I’m not familiar with the other two guys but Brittney has a decent look for the role. Richardson doesn’t look right for it at all.

Also, I see that Grace Randolph (who I still haven’t blocked for some reason) was trying to rile up the Snyder Cult the other day by saying that casting Corenswet (29) and Brosnahan (32) would be wrong because they’re in the same “age range” as Cavill (40) and Adams (48). She really is the worst.

I’m curious how expansive the list of real-deal candidates are beyond what THR and Deadline have confirmed. Because I am getting flashbacks to that shortlist of Batman contenders that didn’t even have Rob on it.

If it does end up being one of these names, I’d be happy with Corenswet and any of the Lois picks aside from possibly Dynevor (haven’t seen enough of her work to form a solid opinion, but she seems to have a Bosworth-ness to her… a delicate beauty without much fire underneath).

????? Which shortlist are you even talking about? The trades didn't publish any Batman shortlists until it came down to Robert and Hoult.

EDIT: It's funny, Googling old articles, it's looking like the first whispers of Rob being on the Batman shortlist came from BossLogic of all people. 2 months before the trades got it.

Nope, that was from the exact same stage in the process. Robert hadn't screentested yet at that point, but he was going to in a few weeks from when the article was published. Same with how Corenswet hasn't screentested yet but he's going to.

Though, her being younger than Clark and being very proficient at her job could make her look even more competent, impressive and mature for her age.

Speaking of Grace, she did a poll over the weekend of who do her fans want Gunn’s version of Superman to come from out of Donner’s Superman, Smallville, Zach Snyder’ Superman or Tim’s Superman. Zach Snyder won the poll. She is really upset that Gunn put her in her place.
