I’d say there’s also a good chance her role in this film isn’t big enough to really make her presence at the table read an absolute necessity.
She might even the part Jennifer Holland was filling in for.

I will also say, I'm very grateful Dune is arriving when it is. Since this apparently won't start shooting until the latter half of March, the first half of March was gonna be totally agonizing for me if it weren't for the beautiful distraction of Dune. :funny:

Too many of the scoopers, including somewhat credible ones, have said it's Brainiac. Gunn himself hinted at Brainiac. They included Superman: Brainiac in the recommended reading for Legacy. It's not like we're going on blind faith here. They either want us thinking its Brainiac so they can pull a switcheroo, or it's Brainiac.

So you got me thinking about those reading recommendations.

The main 4 suggested reads - Superman: Birthright, All-Star Superman, Superman: Brainiac & Superman: Ending Battle

I can kinda see aspects they might draw from within Birthright and All-Star, and I get why we may be led to assume Superman: Brainiac is being suggested because Brainiac is at least mentioned in the film.

But what about Ending Battle?

There are tonnes of villains in Ending Battle, as well as various story elements that could be drawn from. It literally could mean anything...

Any theories?

I truly don’t think there’s a better representation of the failure of Snyder’s Superman than this, from the nondescript grey sludge background to them not even touching each other.

I'm not sure if they were even in the same room and were not photoshopped together.

That one's reaching.

It's a standard look the actors give off in promo pictures, as though they're looking at a threat approaching on the horizon, etc.

I'm just mocking this whole "sNydEr doESn't UndERstanD SupeRMAn" thing, it's just so played out and annoying, as if Gunn didn't change most characters from comic that he used to the point that even Mantis author called him out.

People saying Gunn changed Peacemaker or Mantis as a way to say he'll change Superman will always be funny. Not a soul knows anything about those characters.

I read a ton of DC comics leading into The Suicide Squad and, outside of just being able to visually recognize him, literally the only thing I knew about Peacemaker is that he was the basis for The Comedian.

Not gonna lie, the hype is already building for me. Promised myself I wouldn't get carried away, but oh well....
I wish I felt like that. I remember feeling like that with Superman Returns. I wasn’t that excited for Man of Steel though when I saw it, I thought it was a solid first movie.

I’m worried about this, I cannot lie.

Yeah. Well, it will either be a smash hit, or it won't.
My money is on it being a hit, but moreso critically and with the fans, ala batman begins.

It's Way to early to predict B.O., but I think 600 to 700 mill would be a good take.
But Anyone thinking a billion best slow your roll, and big time.

I have trouble imagining this being a hit even if it’s great, honestly. It has a massive, massive amount working against it. That isn’t a judgment of its potential quality at all, mind you.

Depends on how we define a “hit.” It ain’t gonna be some billion dollar phenom or anything, that’s for sure. But I think it’s safe to say that bar is no longer the standard of success for CBMs after the last couple years, which is a good thing. This just needs to be well-received and make enough to show a definite upswing in interest in the DCU from where it’s been since the pandemic in order to be seen as a success imo. In my mind that means it should at least be able to double what Aquaman 2 made domestically and hit around $600m globally to be seen as a success, if reviews and audiences like it. That’s a solid enough foundation to build from. And that’s the key - the brand has to build their audience back. It ain’t happening overnight. Starting with Legacy, Woman of Tomorrow and Batman: Part II are good ones to do so with, as all 3 have a good chance of being quality imo.

Legacy’s already got more buzz/interest than Aquaman 2 had, and will certainly get more marketing, so that should be a pretty attainable goal I would think, as long as Gunn makes a good movie. If he manages to do one better and make a home run of a crowd pleaser, I could see it realistically pulling The Batman numbers.

Hell’s got an interesting look to it. Everyone was assuming Norway would be the Fortress, but I’m not so sure…
