Lex is arguably superman's best villain and hasn't really been done well on the big screen. All they have to do is give us the animated series lex or Rosenbaum's lex and I think the general audience will be receptive to it.

Regarding the clone, it's all about execution. The movie needs to nail superman and if this clone is how they can make the character of superman and Clark Kent shine I'm all for it. I think I recall early on there was talk about the focus being on Clark as a journalist. You would need to have some sort of conspiracy going on to highlight that. So if you have lex making a clone it gives a good reason for Clark to be a journalist and do some investigative reporting. World ending threats don't lend itself to that story.
Yeah I'm completely biased on this because I love Lex so much I'm beyond happy to see he's the main villain. I'm almost as eager to see a great take on Lex in live action as I am Clark.

Seriously. All the people who rip on this show as being CW cheesiness can kiss my grits.

Agreed.

The breast cancer storyline in Superman & Lois hits differently for a variety of reasons. It's particularly noteworthy because you don't often see superhero characters venture into such mature and uncharted waters. Still, I think it's a little misleading to assert that these kinds of moments, or rather, that moments that resonate deeply with viewers are hard to come by on this show. That hasn't been my experience at all.

In terms of acting, Hoechlin does a consistently great job at playing both Superman and Clark. And I can't say enough good things about Bitsie's Lois. Her performance just floors me!

The writing wasn't always as good as it could've been, but it got better over time and reached its peak in S3. The only real misstep for me thus far has been the casting of Michael Cudlitz as "biker thug" Lex.

Also not a fan of biker thug Lex, but I actually really struggled with the cancer arc.

Let's just say it wasn't what I want to see when I tune into my comfort show/character for a bit of healthy escapism from every day life. It was done very well for the most part, but it depressed the hell out of me and I felt every story arc outside of the cancer arc suffered because they put all their focus into getting that right.

I enjoy exploration of a lot of real life struggles in superhero stories, don't get me wrong. I just... felt it crossed a line into something else. And that something just wasn't for me.

I hear you.

Will you be taking those pics in person, Flickchick? :funny:
If I still lived in Savannah I would probably would be ngl. :funny:

They might confiscate people's phones at this screening, but I doubt it since the movie's already released. That's typically just a secrecy/piracy prevention measure for screenings of movies that aren't out yet.

Aw. I actually would prefer it if they explored themes like this in the films. I doubt Gunn would do something so heavy as Lois having cancer or even her miscarriage. I just think it humanizes these characters, but of course it has to be earned and not done for shock factor. I love how much love Clark shows her and how devastated he was to hear her confession and how she was afraid he would just look at her all he would see was her sickness.

*conceals plane ticket in her bag* :o

I LOVED the cancer storyline, but I wouldn't want every Supes story to be like that. It's good to have some heavier stuff every now and then, though. I just thought it was a great exploration of BOTH their characters. I love most stories where Supes has to deal with a threat he can't physically fight.

Yeah I don't disagree, I also like plenty of things that humanize characters. I loved Lois' miscarriage plot too, think that worked well. But it wasn't an entire season of relentless walking through the medical process of miscarriage. It was a reflection about it through therapy, in relation to a present day issue.

Bitsie & Tyler were phenomenol... but that also made the experience even more painful in a way. To be both adoring their performances and how their loving relationship was portrayed... and also wishing every episode it would be over soon, because it was just too much.

I know a lot of people enjoyed it, and I've managed a rewatch, but it's still bitter sweet for me. Looking forward to S4 shifting away from that hopefully!

Even more than Eisenberg, Cudlitz is one of those 'wtf were they smoking?' castings imo.
I didnt hate the casting itself, the vibe was just so completely off with the thugishness and metal head music and how dumb he was being.

Lex Luthor would never show up at the farm just to yell at Lois. The whole thing just felt so OOC to me. Lex gets out of prison, exhonerated, the first thing he would do is reclaim his throne and start publicly smearing Lois.

The primary protagonist of Superman is, shockingly, Superman. The main villain of Superman is, shockingly, Lex Luthor. I don’t know where all the stuff is coming from that it’s something other than this. There are so many stories coming out every day it’s difficult to deal with and everytime I strike something down I’m giving it attention. So, I’ll say again, don’t believe anything unless you see it HERE (& why would you want to know everything before the movie comes out anyway?) ❤️🧜‍♂️

Gunn said that, so.......

What were your thoughts in comparison to Jon Cryer?

So Lex is the main villain, he's not just there to be there as some have speculated.
I think she's saying so cause it was already posted and discussed about the other day.

Gunn isn't really debunking anything with this post.

Ok we just had several pages of discussion over this quote in this very thread since it was first posted over a day ago, hence my confusion. :funny:
