He has quite the long neck...and as someone who doesn't like the collar in general I don't mind it as much here.
Dude, you just read my mind lol. I was just looking at pics and was thinking they could have gone the collar route because David has an elongated neck. If that's the case, a good move.

This person has no intention of engaging with the discussion, or any discussion for that matter, so don’t expect a response. I replied to them in another thread a few days back, and still haven’t received a reply back.
Definitely! But those types of posts are fun to reply to. There's a point to make in there 🤟

@flickchick85 pointed out David's neck length to me as the likely reason for the collar as soon as the reveal photo was released. She clearly has studied his body in great depth. :o

I’m seeing the lengths they’ve gone for visual comic accuracy and I think Axel Braun would be proud

If ya know, ya know lol

Yep. Those manips with the traditional collar look good, but his neck and traps are not that big. That’s not how he would really look without the collar.

With Hoult on set yesterday what's the likelihood we see him today? I think he's the only one left in Atlanta who hasn't been seen in front of the camera

If Miss Teschmacher has already been spotted, Luthor can't be that far behind heh.

Well, they did refer to the first two seasons of Picard as mediocre, so, going by the “virtue-signaling” comments, It’s easy to guess what they meant by that.

Granted, I’ve heard some not great things about those two seasons myself, but there is definitely a contingent of fans who lay the blame on that show’s quality, and pretty much most modern Star Trek, on being “too woke”, and not for the actual reasons.
I didn't hate the seasons, but they aren't great and a lot of people didn't like them. Not for any sort of buzzwords reasons...mostly because they are very dour.

If it was any other director taking on this type of cast (and it's big in numbers as far as characters are concerned) then I would worry a bit. But you can only go by the directors strengths and Gunn's strength is his ability to seamlessly write and create great dialogue with an assembled cast.
Yeah, Gunn is the most well suited to this particular quirk of his film than almost anyone else. I've been very vocal that I'm not interested in shared universes but just the concept of other heroes existing in this world and being part of the story just feels like... a normal superhero story. If the movie comes out and it's all janky spin-off set up I'll change my tune but I feel like the intense aversion some people have to the very concept of a superhero story taking place in a well populated superhero setting always feels a bit weird and snobby.

Not that it's bad to just do a totally solo superhero story! Virtually every single great CBM does that! I just think people look at it and think "Hmm, this is not what it was like in Raimi and Nolan movies! Must be MCU trash incoming!" in a way that isn't very engaged with 90% of the source material.

It's not necessarily the size of the traps. Bone structure can greatly affect how they appear even if they are large and well developed. Chris Hemsworth has large well-developed traps and a thick neck, but given his very long neck and narrow sloping shoulders, his traps actually just highlight the length of his neck. Which is why his costumers do everything possible to break up his neckline from the long hair and beard to the substantial collars and pauldrons on his Thor costumes.

That's all fair thinking. But you know how the CBM fan community acts. I, for one, have no worries how this suit will look in live action. Gunn knows what he's doing behind the camera.
After what so called fans are doing to Star Wars, I don’t really care. Some of the loud small minority is nuts. I am enjoying the ride.

It's totally normal. Venture anywhere and you will see the great, the bad, and the fugly lol. But it's honestly the norm with CBM reactions. As much negativity I see, there's positivity and some fans that are on the fence are skewing giving it a chance. Superman already feels it's on the right path with exposure. There will be a LOT of eyes on this thing. If I was Gunn, that's probably where you would want things exactly to be. The stage is being set for motion and the trailers. That will determine a lot of things when the time comes where people will stand. It's hard to go by stills and set pics. It's just the beginning, but I feel all these set "leaks" are doing its job.
You nailed it with this post.

You're right!
