In the old days… Krypto could sorta “talk.” To be more precise, he could think in coherent sentences — indicated to the reader via thought balloon.

I suppose the cinematic equivalent would be an actor doing voiceover.

*takes a deep, DEEP breath* Sorry bud, I lived through war as a kid and as an adult I was part of the medicins sans limite for a wee while so it's hard for me to...... turn it off sometimes but you're right it's a good time to be a Superman fan. My Adventures with Superman is quite lovely and seeing today's pic with Krypto sure does lift up the spirit. Now all that's missing is a good Superman game news and we're in business.
No worries...I'm on a social media break because my anxiety about all those things so I get it. :hearts::hug::hrt:

Yeah, that is not the moon maybe part of a satellite or space station.
It's the moon, you can see the craters and ground more clearly in the wide shots that Kane has posted above. :funny:

Looking at the pic again it likes as if both of them have just heard something and are about to take off back to Earth, Supes and Krypto both look at each other and Supes gives him a wink and smile and says "c'mon boy" and shzzooooom they take off.

It was so funny to see someone yesterday complained that it looked cheap.

Mother****er, it was a motion poster. That stuff almost never comes out looking pristine.

I've seen people say it looks CW cheap, say Gunn's story about how his own dog inspired Krypto is cringe. Don't like the breed of dog... throughout all social media. It's actually pretty sad to see so many negative comments. I follow a lot of dc/marvel/comic book pages.

I can't wait for this movie. Hopefully it proves the doubters wrong.

Good lord the "CW" complaint is so played out. It's the go to for people who want to complain but aren't smart enough to have a real reason.

Question for Superman fans. Does the general audience really understand Superman? Or does the general audiences find it unbelievable that a man with Supes powers can be that wholesome as a human being. I see the negative posts concerning the Superman movie and don’t understand the anger but I am getting the impression people just don’t like the idea of a good ole fashion Superhero that was raised to be a good human being by the Kents. I actually think the movie will be about how Superman handles the way the world looks at him. The genius of Gunn is that I think Luther and the other anti Superman players in the movie will represent the negative view of Superman by our society. It will be interesting to see how it plays out on screen.

Audiences tend to enjoy drama the most. If it tilts extreme in one way or another, chances are, they will be torn. With Superman, their expectations kind of fall in line with an overexposed nature of the Donnerversion, and a collision of worlds caught in between modern Marvel and the TDK formula. They also see Superman as corny/cornball-ish that is outdated.

Captain America worked because of his connection to the overall arc of the MCU. His character was portrayed in the type of Superman realm, but the storytelling also had its dramatic moments. I think Gunn should lean into the "cornball" nature of what people think they don't like about Superman and turn that into a strength on the big screen with great storytelling. As big of a hot rod; electric pole that Gunn is, I think he can pull that off. He can tell a good story. It will have to begin and end there if the DCU Superman takes off.

It's not just Snyder fans. It really isn't. Gunn has a lot of work to do to win people over. There's the same amount of old school Reeve fans dogging (pun intended)? than the version of fans that just came before it. It is what it is. But I'm confident James can tell a great Superman story and pull it off..because he necessarily has to. The motion picture is gorgeous. I really hope Gunn has found that aesthetic. Can't wait to see the trailer.

I wasn't high on the rumor that Krypto would be in the film, but after seeing that image, I am sold. Well done Mr. Gunn!

Not to rehash an old debate, but does any think with the success of the Reeve documentary and the overall classic feel Gunn is aiming for, that he'll use Williams theme as his main hero theme and let his composer score the rest, similar to what Singer did with Ottman?

Gunn has used the theme in a couple of news bits he's released and I know Coreneswet has spoken about wanting to be in a role using a Williams score.

Good points. Captain America (Chris Evans) for Marvel is what WB wanted Henry Cavill’s Superman to be. I also think that Snyder became obsessed with Injustice Superman (Elseworld story) and wanted to make a so called real world Superman. Then it became popular for Batman to “beat up Superman “ in the comics. This world is crazy man and this movie is going to challenge what fans want and see in Superman. I think Gunn has it down but it will get backlash. The anti DCU crowd is already complaining about a Super dog. That has always been in the Superman lore.

Say what you want about Zack, but that was the trend to where Superman was heading in both the media and the comic books; continuity. Zack gave the studio exactly what they hired him to do (I honestly don't think they were aiming for Cavill's Superman to be MCU Cap. At the time, they wanted distance from past versions and wanted TDK formula). The turnstile of leadership though stuck a fork in those plans. David Goyer talks about that more in depth than Zack ever did because Zack is a nice guy and team player overall. It's amazing he's even back at the studio. But that's here nor there. I digress.

Movie audiences are different. Especially nowadays. They are influenced by a mirade of intangibles, especially with the popularity of critics and social media reviews and influencers, just like anything else.

I honestly think it doesn't matter about the Superman lore at this point or the history when it comes to the "fun" of the comic book character. In movies, those are all the cherry on top of the delicious cake..but the cake still needs to be delicious. Gunn needs to focus on making a great film with a great story. That's what audiences want and will gravitate towards, especially opening weekend and repeat viewings.

They enjoy great stories so they can actually pick up on all the fun and action as a desert. It's tough because Gunn (or any other director for that matter) can seemingly make all the right choices, but the reaction is nowhere near to be guaranteed to be hit. I respect Gunn for taking a crack at it. We'll see soon, but I know he will have elements in there that audiences will love. He has proven that much in the CBM lore.
