Never watched The Substance, but my brother described it as being a sci-fi The Nutty Professor (Murphy's version), without the fun.

That is the most disturbing comparison I have ever heard, and now I will never watch the Nutty Professor the same again...

I loved The Substance and I am generally good with gore. But that was a bit much by the end. While I hope that Clayface will bring the body horror, I also would like it to not go as far as that movie.

The Superman trailer was so effective without having to show him using his powers. Gunn was able to give us a great trailer without seeing the man of steel using his heat vision, freeze breath, and “Top Gunn” flying. Supposedly the flying will be something that has not been seen before. I think they used some type of drone technology.

I’m more curious how their 2024 anticipated movies list turned out.

Edit: here it is. Joker Folie a Deux at #2 and Argyle #3 lol

As I already said a few pages ago about the Fandango list, these lists are a game. And nothing more.

the last couple of superman stories i read were superman smashes the klan and superman: space age.

and seeing the superman trailer with that big and bold, yet poignant comic book vibe like these stories just gets me hyped.

besides fantastic four and batman part II (i'm bummed this got delayed another year, but it is what it is), i'm the most excited for superman 2025.

I was just laying in bed listening to the Superman 78 theme again and a thought came across my mind that I ran through my head and it felt so damn good when I pictured it that I had to see what you guys thought. What if the opening of the film, the one that's supposed to drop us in the middle of the action, was part of the opening theme music as a sort of montage of Superman saving the day in various ways while the credits play, with the credits and music coming to an end just as Superman lands behind a building and changes back into clark, leading to the opening where, as we saw in the trailer, Clarks bustling through the crowd of people because he's late for work.

I do love how Gunn is adding more obscure Superman characters into this. BUT I think I know the ending of the movie now...

Mr. Mxyzptlk is going to be behind everything and pull a Deus Ex Machina.

I think recently people are reaching a boiling point when it comes to meaningless homogenous content, be it Instagram or big budget movies, and something about the Superman film just exudes “meaning” and is also visually distinct. I can see Supes being this year’s Barbie in that way, the movie about the silly old colorful figure that actually looks like it may speak to something about us today.
