Out of curiosity, does anyone know if James Gunn always cuts his own trailers? I have mentioned in the past that I really liked his 'Since you've been gone' trailer for Guardians 3 but I was under the impression that trailers were always made by separate companies that specialize in that thing. I'm sure he had a say in song and tone but I wouldn't have assumed he did it all himself.

Seriously?!? We get a reputable leak before filming even begins that the movie is going to involve a Superman clone called Ultraman. We get set photos of a full face masked villain, the same size as Supes, wearing a U on his chest and people still doubt the scoop. We now get a leaked toy list confirming the character is in fact Ultraman, just as stated in the year old leak and people still want to claim that the character is actually Ulysses?!?

I gotta say that Team Eyebrows are not the ones in denial or trading in conspiracy theories at this point.

But why can't Ultraman be Ulysses? We don't know who's behind the mask. And this Ultraman seemingly isn't a traditional take. So I think it'll be an amalgamation of the two. Ulysses does wear a black outfit with a "U" on it as well. I think Ulysses will be played by Flula Borg.

Snyder’s Superman sucked ass but his suit was a million times better than Gunn’s.

I hope this movie is good and WB doesn’t panic and pivot their entire plans and torpedo the whole burgeoning universe but I’ll be more surprised if that doesn’t happen. It’s WB after all.

The villain choice is so questionable and falls under the same pattern the movies have always followed.

I’m just basing my expectations on what I have seen and so far, I am pleased with everything. And that goes especially for the costumes. I hated the MoS costume, but I love this one. And the Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl costumes seem to indicate a possible Maxwell Lord/Simon Stagg corporate rivalry that extends to corporately-financed heroes, which could be very interesting. (I know that The Boys already explores this topic, but it comes from a cynical worldview. I look forward to seeing it from a different perspective.)

A cool, smart scientist Lex is probably one of best villain ideas you can do for a Superman movie.

As bad as Smallville was at times, their Lex was so perfect for me. The almost brotherly connection between the two really landed for me. Rosenbaum is the one to beat. I have faith in Hoult’s abilities

Yeah you and I clearly want VERY different things from Superman because everything I’ve seen from that looked like absolute garbage to me and I thank the movie gods every day that was not inflicted upon us on top of the cinematic abominations starring the character that we’ve already gotten. Thankfully, we seem to be getting one very close to what I want this time, based on what we’ve seen thus far, for the first time in my entire life, so I am very hyped.

Gene Hackman and Kevin Spacey Lex…… As much as those guys are not Lex, I actually loved Superman the movie, Superman 2 and liked Routh’s Supes movie.

I'm glad Superman Lives didn't happen in 1999 , because if it had, it would have gone over like a led balloon with Fans and Audiences ,
and probably would have scared WB so much, that it would have taken even longer, for Batman and Superman to return to the Big Screen again.

While I'm not thrilled that Superman's rogues have been limited Basically to Lex and Zod on film , when there are several others characters who could be explored and exploited on film ,
over the years, I'm still glad that Superman Lives wasn't made back then.

I'm still not crazy about Corenswet's costume , but in terms of the casting, the guy seems to fits like a glove .

I've always liked Brainiac, Metallo, Livewire and Darkseid.

They aren't all everyone's cup of tea , but then again, very few comic heroes have the classic and the iconic Rogues Gallery of Batman anyway.

They've been trying to get Brainiac on screen since The Donner era , but , he's a character whose always fallen through the cracks during the development of the films.

I’ll go to bat that Cage as Superman really, really could have worked because he’s an incredible and deeply sincere performer who loves the character.

However, the Lives scripts were uniformly terrible. Burton had already entered his vapid hack era and all the concept art just looks like his by then already hackneyed and run into the ground visual style.

I am not super hot on or interested in this movie but it already looks more competent and visually nicer than prior modern Superman films. They all look like goofy children’s movie heroes! Superman looks like Buck Rogers with a cape! It’s great! Exactly what I’d want from Gunn on this.

I can't believe my pessimistic ass is feeling generally positive I'll enjoy this. Less it's box office chances, but so long as Gunn holds back on his instincts towards more crass humour some, I'm liking what I see and how things are seemingly coming together. Certainly more than I've ever liked anything from Superman Lives.

I wonder how Burton would have done Doomsday. I know Brainiac would have been Burton-fied. I think his ship resembled a skull. Nic Cage cringe as Clark Kent would have been fun.
