It’s amazing what less than 1 second can do to a trailer to make the weird part of the fandom react. You literally would have to put the tv spot on Super slow to notice any issues with the CGI.

This is so par for the course it's not even funny lol. In the end, this will be just one of those blips in the *****.

I think the main reason people are saying it looks kinda weird is mainly because his face is so still while his hair is moving so fast. We've never seen a Superman with loose, natural hair like David's. Reeve and Routh both had the shoe polish side part and Cavill and Hoechlin's hair only fluttered a little bit. In this shot, Corenswet's hair is flailing wildly, giving the speed more weight and verisimilitude, but because he's not squinting his eyes from the wind, it comes off as a bit odd....and that makes people question why it does....but that's realistically how Superman would look!

I also think it has to do with the high collar neckline. Because you can't see his traps and collar area of his body, as you normally can on a low neckline, it gives the effect of his head being just pasted onto a cgi body. Plus his head looks to big compared to his body in the shot

The flying is gonna be soooo dooope! GotG had some of the best flying sequences in any MCU movie and that was James's first big budget movie. With him taking inspiration from Top Gun Maverick, we just might get the best flying sequences of any superhero movie. *looking suspiciously at Captain America: Brave New World*
I love how immersive the sequence feels. I've always wanted that from a Superman movie.

I think there's a huge difference between casually commenting on something you personally didn't love, and complaining.

There's plenty of complaining out there too, but if we arent free to comment on our observations of both positive and negative aspects of new footage (especially something iconic like how he looks mid flight) then we have a problem.

It’s still a little over five and a half months away, so any unfinished CGI will be complete by the time it releases. James Gunn movies are pretty good about that because he gives the VFX artists the required time they need to make it the best it can be, and he also uses a lot of sets where he can so they aren’t overburdened. And unlike Marvel Studios, at least before the restructuring, Gunn treats the animators very well and always praises their tremendous work ethic and craft. I mean, just look at all of the amazing stuff Framestore did in GOTG, Vol. 3 with all of the CGI creatures, compared to a lot of the MCU’s other output around which suffered a lot from being rushed out and unfinished:

I am actually surprised that Superman looks as good as it does this far out. In the trailers for some of this movies, there’s at least just a tiny bit of jank that gets worked out just in time for the final cut, but everything that we’ve seen so far already looks pretty solid. It seems like not having to adhere to MCU time has given him even more of an ability to work at his own pace.

I really can’t wait for this!

Easy.
If the cgi is not finished, do not show the scene.
I think I will love the movie, but the last spot can kill the hype.
What the ****... ****... are they thinking to show that scene????????????
They should have known it would become a meme.

I'm fairly certain Gunn is going to deliver. He's a good CBM director that looks to understand the assignment. His Superman is going to have the bombastic theme, the saves, and a Superman triumphing against all odds. That said, he is not untouchable, and so isn't this film. Quite the contrary givin' the stakes and microscope.

I watched the flying scene already 100x over. It's joyful IMO. But I got to be honest. The face and eyes look quirky and it doesn't paint David in that good of a light, especially when the GA doesn't know of him or even heard him speak as of yet, so my very first thought was " ****, I know exactly how this is going to get torn apart" before even opening the gates of hell called the Internet. We've been doing this a LONG time. We all knew because quite frankly, the face shot has its constructive criticism.

Superman doesn't look bad in the slightest. I think it looks great and I feel Gunn really nailed his world. The trailer was beautiful in every sense of the word. The new barrel roll looks different. I honestly think the CGI aspect of that shot is fine. Borderline even good (Gunn must think so as well being confident enough to show it). For me, I don't think it's a CGI issue. It's just not a good face shot. When people think something is AI, especially of Superman's handsome face for a handsome actor, that's warranted. I wonder if Gunn will tweak that shot or just use a different one altogether.

It’s heart breaking to me that some of the fandom want this movie to fail so bad. I have blocked the weird fandom from my listings and then new negative posts pop up. I will probably go dark in the Spring because someone will try to spoil the movie online and ruin the experience. Just sad. :sadden: :hot:

Hate to say it, but it's completely unavoidable at this stage of social media. You got to master your algorithms and interact in places that align with your mental rubber band. I know it's tough to bathe in the negativity when it hits, but you just got to do your best to separate the online personalities with this stuff or else it will depress you. I've done a good job nowadays at being able to tiptoe that line when I wasn't so good at it in my earlier days. There's got to be a point where you got to say enough is enough and just enjoy what you enjoy regardless of the feedback.

I did it for the teaser trailer and it was good for a few weeks. Then I believe the negative YouTubers would change their titles. It’s frustrating. I have a feeling I already know the plot of Brave New World and I have really not been following it. I was hoping I could get my ticket and just watch it. YouTube won’t let that happen.

It’s already getting wayyyy too much discourse online.

I don't necessarily think it's the changing of the titles per-say other than the YT, Twitter, or any other platform spitting the algorithm back out at you on what content it thinks you like. It takes your own actions as a consumer, takes that data, and shows you what you are interested in. There's just a ton of content creation out there nowadays. For better or worse? Who knows, but you're going to get all sides of the coin since algorithms are changing at an absolute constant for personal feeds.

It was quite predictable the moment I laid eyes on the shot lol. I even let out an audible sigh before going into the rubble. I always go straight to friends who I know I can trust first and talk to them right away to get the good vibes rolling because Zod knows it's always going to be a ****storm everywhere else. It's been quite the exhaustion as a fan over the years that I'm content on getting back to the fundamentals of just enjoying a good Superman movie. I'm confident Gunn can give that.

That sounds grand. Now I have to quit YouTube to enjoy comic book movies.
