The Daily Planet - Superman News and Speculation Thread (🚨TAG SPOILERS🚨)

We all got to be a Man of Steel and just let the bullets bounce off the chest! We'll all be there July 11th when it really matters anyhow
I would be good if the thumbnails didn’t have spoilers. I remember Grace ruined the Force Awakens for me with her FU Kylo Rin thumbnail that showed the death of Han Solo. Talk about desperation for clicks. I had avoided all spoilers and the morning I headed out to the movies her dumb face pops on my screen. :censor:

Aaah yes. Thumbnails. No fix for that unless you close your eyes or go dark lol. Either that or only watch content creators that you know you like and put an alarm bell on them so you knows it's them. It's tough to navigate.

And here I am, not having a problem with the CGI but a bit iffy on the framing and the "bubble head" effect caused by the lense. :o

But hey, it's still just one shot, that particular view may only happen once.
The same type of shot also happened in The Batman when the hero escape the police station and even if I found it not flattering, it didn't ruined the scene to me anyway.

And that barrell roll was nice. I would do the same if I could fly. But I can't anymore.

Easy.
If the cgi is not finished, do not show the scene.
I think I will love the movie, but the last spot can kill the hype.
What the ****... ****... are they thinking to show that scene????????????
They should have known it would become a meme.
We literally see Superman do a barrel roll after numerous scenes of him showcasing his awesomeness. If that split second shot of his face hurts anyone’s hype for the film, then that says more about the person than it does the film.

But I see people’s points. It doesn’t look realistic for a flying person. We should have it look more like a person in a wind tunnel:

Back to Superman, it looks like Supes flight will look like a fighter jet. That is something original. I was wondering why he flies without his arms out like most Supermen. Love Lex. Man Hoult looks great.

I would imagine Gunn just took inspiration from Reeve. The last shots of the Reeve films always had Chris in the arms back and to the side position. It's only one shot though. I'm sure we're going to get many styles of flight.

It’s heart breaking to me that some of the fandom want this movie to fail so bad. I have blocked the weird fandom from my listings and then new negative posts pop up. I will probably go dark in the Spring because someone will try to spoil the movie online and ruin the experience. Just sad. :sadden: :hot:

Hate to say it, but it's completely unavoidable at this stage of social media. You got to master your algorithms and interact in places that align with your mental rubber band. I know it's tough to bathe in the negativity when it hits, but you just got to do your best to separate the online personalities with this stuff or else it will depress you. I've done a good job nowadays at being able to tiptoe that line when I wasn't so good at it in my earlier days. There's got to be a point where you got to say enough is enough and just enjoy what you enjoy regardless of the feedback.
Honestly I have so many people muted now on twitter that I have not seen a single anti Gunn post since the TV spot hit 😅

One of the first things I liked right away is how Corenswet's hair moves and is realistic into what wind velocity would look like. It's one of the reasons the shot looks the way it looks. People always said Superman, in every medium, was too polished with his hair or facial movements in flight, so it's just par for the pompous CBM fan discourse. Not everyone is going to be pleased. Ever.

Using the # Superman hashtag was a good move for engagement purposes.

Also, using the # Superman hashtag was a bad move for engagement purposes lol.

We continue to live in a " damned if you do; damned if you don't" type setting.

I swear film Twitter is the worst.

So many odd fanboys, most likely Snyder Cultist, screen grabbing the flying shot dunking on Corenswet and the film.

It's crazy how these people live in a bubble and think two seconds of footage requires new marketing and failure for this film.

Thank God these weirdos do not determine the box office success of films released.
Those people are obsessed with cinematography and nothing else. You can write an absolute **** Superman film and they'll still praise it if it's got a couple of cool shots.

Oh wait, we already got that 12 years ago and it tanked an entire universe. Woops.

I wouldn't say tanked as a trilogy of films was still released, alongside Ultimate Editions of those films. Regardless of yesteryear, Superman will be judged on its own merit when it matters. Said it many times, but Gunn is a good storyteller and the final product will always do the talking regardless of the typical fan nitpicking that existed since the beginning of time itself lol.

I feel like they could have went for a more flattering angle for that shot, if it is indeed 100% David's face tbh.

Not every shot needs to be a "beauty shot."

Wide angle close ups are a stylistic choice. James Gunn vibes with them. It's that simple.

You don't need to like it, but it's not a "mistake." You'll find such shots in numerous directors' movies, from Sam Raimi to Darren Aronofsky, the Coen brothers, Terry Gilliam and many more.

Here's an article on them:

Forbes and IGN are already putting out pieces about it. The lightening rod certainly exists. Hopefully the next sneak peak or trailer will erase a 3 second television spot. Still lots more to see from the marketing before release.

I always hated these conversations because when you actually watch the movie on the big screen it's not something you notice.

Not to discount peoples opinions on whether or not it looks bad, I agree, it's not the most flattering shot, but to me the whole sequence looked really cool in action. I like what I am seeing from the few clips we have gotten of how he flies.

But I've seen this exact same complaint repeated over the past 20 years in each iteration like clockwork. The reality is, so long as the movie is actually good, no one remembers this stuff. But the movie has to be good....

It's all apart of the process..even for ultra nerds like us. The only discussions we can have are what is presented in what little they do give us. It's right on brand, really. But you're right. In the end, the final product will be make or break and these days will be all but forgotten.

If one shot (that hardly matters compared to the rest of them) is enough to kill your hype and make you this confounded methinks you actually wont enjoy the film because you will nitpick it to death.

Unfinished cgi gets put in trailers all the time and no one remembers it when they see the finished product.
