Anyone starting to think Jor-El isn't in this movie? Because Kurt Russell and his dimples could work there. :o

Even Kurt said he’s too old for that damn role.

Mark Waid is that you?
Nah I get my work in on time  :o

DKR as an Elseworlds is fine and I can dig parts of it. But much like Kingdom Come it has become such a reference point about what people believe the DCU is and should become that fans seem to have lost the plot.

I liken it to the movie Wall Street. The film is not some tale of Gordon Gecko's greatness...it is about how chodes like him are out to rob us all blind and will do so with smile on their face. Greed is Good is not what people were supposed to aspire to believe...it was a middle finger to all of us who actually work for a living. Problem is, too many people think they can be Gordon Gecko...they don't realize they are all Bud Foxes ready to be corrupted, chewed up and spit out when the time is convenient. Same holds true for DKR. What that should be is a story showing how getting too caught in his quest to protect Gotham and the world Bruce is completely corrupted by Batman (to the point it nearly kills him) and never allows him to see the good in anyone, even Superman. It works better as a cautionary tale...not as what comic fans think Batman should be. Bruce in DKR is a criminal...not just because he is a vigilante but because he has abandoned the very rules he used to govern himself on. People cheer that like he is Wolverine or something...which lead to decades of a Batman that honestly Nightwing should have killed just for being an abusive [bleep]wad. That Batman got a Robin killed, that Batman got Barbara Gordon paralyzed and still had chuckles with the Joker after. That Batman was forced out of the JLA for being a paranoid weirdo and alienated everyone who ever cared for him or helped him. But hey, he fought Superman so...yippie!

But now back to Superman :)

Being compared to Mark Waid is a tremendous compliment. Especially on a Superman board.
Absolutely. I was making a joke (because Waid has the rep of being a pre-crisis comic book fan who hated comics like DKR and Killing Joke and the John Byrne Superman revamp)

Alan Moore wrote 2 of the three greatest single issue comic stories of all time imo:
“Anatomy Lesson” and “For the Man Who Has Everything”
(Steve Englehart wrote the other with “Night of the Stalker” which is my favorite Batman story all-time)

I mean, Alan Moore >>>>> Frank Miller any day.
Oh that isn't even in dispute...doesn't mean he is not a full on creep though. ;) But I will take V for Vendetta, Killing Joke, For the Man Who Has Everything and Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow over 90% of Frank Miller's output.

Alan Moore hates fascism (V for Vendetta was a response to Thatcher) Frank Miller is a Fascist Misogynistic Weasel that makes Jon Campea look good.

Starting to get a little iffy feeling about the DCU. Hoping Superman puts that all to bed come July and continues on a healthy path.
