So some of you guys have seen a cleaner version of the trailer?

There is a pretty decent one on someone's FB page that they posted to public. It should stay up for a while because it's been up for almost 12 hours now without being removed. I can't link it, but just use Google and change the search parameters.

Spider-Man 3 marketing sort of also threw into question whether Spider-Man/Parker was going to survive or not and the finality of it was a central part of the marketing and the film to a degree.

"Could this be the end of Spider-Man?"

And if we really wanna get over-specific, Blade: Trinity flaunted the whole "Blade, are you ready to die?"

Bummer. :dry:

X-Men: The Last Stand.
Aye, but:
1) It has spawned two prequels in the same universe;
2) Different director so not tonally consistent with X1 and 2;
3) it was a big steaming pile of doggy-doo.

I was referring to how he said no comic book film had been marketed as the "end battle," Im well aware that it's a steaming pile of ****.

We didn't know Wolverine and First Class were on their way, just like another Batman film could spring up.

It was the end of that Spider-Man. In a very meta sense. :hehe:

For good reason...it sucked.

Even with the Last Stand & SM3 being the "final" part of their respective franchise we can all tell that TDKR is going to be something wholly different and excuse my assumption the much, much, much better film.

True. :funny:

Well, they had FC tread the line of being able to fit in that universe but also treading its own ground a bit. I believe the intent is to do a new series of movies grounded in FC, but not related to the original ones.

You would be correct in this assumption...but I wonder if there will be a link of any kind to the separate "Wolverine" films.

I have the urge to go watch spider man 3 on blu ray now.

I just noticed... there's a portrait of Harvey Dent next to the first shot of commissioner gordon in the trailer. Good to know the trailer will be blessed with his chin again.

Given that
Professor X is in a chair at the end of FC but is walking at the end of Wolverine, which is presumably set later on
I don't see how.
My point about TDKR is this: it has been explicitly stated by Nolan that this movie definitively ends this story, doesn't leave the door open for 'an ever-expanding bubble' or whatever the quote was. So, yes, I do feel this is the first time that a coherent and fully-formed, closed trilogy of CBMs will be brought to the screen.
