The Dark Knight Rises The Dark Knight Rises Trailer Thread - Part 1

It sounds ridiculous to say this when discussing a trailer that features an American Football (sorry, I'm a Brit) field collapsing into the earth, alongside footage of a Batwing, but I can't believe how understated it all is.

Is it entirely petulant to start crying for the second full trailer that really shows off Catwoman? :csad:

Thought so.

I couldn't understand a thing, nor had the patience to try analyzing the blurry images. Guess I'm getting old.

Can someone transcript the lines? I heard a lenghty monologue by a female character, it all just sounded like gibberish to me.

X-Men: The Last Stand.

X3 ended with a sense that the story *may* continue on in some form. It was left relatively open-ended. DKR looks to just end things completely. It's that definite ending in a superhero movie that we haven't had yet.

And I wouldn't put too much stock into semantics of a title. How many times did a film include "last" or "final" in its title only to not be the "last" or "final" entry in its series?

What, a few members didn't get what they wanted on another board? No Joker-ish confrontations and dialogue? Awww. :o

Frankly, if they didn't appreciate the emotional complexity, representation of various characters (and their arcs) and impending darkness/doom approaching from this trailer simply because they're still stuck with wishing that Bane was The Joker, then too bad.

You guys are reading way too much into this.

Something new happen I don't know about?

A little whiff of Dark Knight Rises criticism, and you show up like a fly on manure.

Emotional complexity? What the hell? There was nothing complex about that trailer. Hines Ward running from an explosion would've seemed ****** anywhere else, but because it's Nolan, that makes it complex and dark? The doom of having Batman get his back broken? Yeah, because a ****** 90s arc that was created for the sole purpose of bringing in an edgy 90's Batman (Azrael) definitely brings the doom.

Apparently we have to ignore the "Rises" part of the title because some 15yo on the Internet said so.

Hines Ward is in this thing?

Given that
Professor X is in a chair at the end of FC but is walking at the end of Wolverine, which is presumably set later on
I don't see how.
My point about TDKR is this: it has been explicitly stated by Nolan that this movie definitively ends this story, doesn't leave the door open for 'an ever-expanding bubble' or whatever the quote was. So, yes, I do feel this is the first time that a coherent and fully-formed, closed trilogy of CBMs will be brought to the screen.
I don't think you understand what a "story" is, truthfully.

^Yes, I was there, and Hines Ward, Troy P, and that crap QB is also in it unfortunately.

Visually the movie still looks great to bad it falls apart in the scripting department. :(

:funny: The film is bad, really really bad from all angles its a terrible film...I just like watching it, I don't know why, i know it's a bad film, but i can gleam some sort of pleasure from it's campyness and mess. Probably because of all the little bits of greatness it holds look fantastic on bluray.

You do realize that the whole Knightfall saga was ultimately a critique of the "edgy" boom in the 90s right? Same with Death of Superman. The editors and writers knew exactly where they were going but played it off in comic as if Azbats and paralytic Bruce was the new status quo, and it worked perfectly for them.

That's pretty impossible, considering the complex and emotional dialogue of all the footage has to hammer it in a billion times. We get it, something will rise, must we have everyone from Gordon to Bane say it?

If Bane kills Hines Ward on screen, I will stand up and cheer.

And no. I'm not joking.

I've never heard any once ever claim them to be that.

And I've heard a lot of discussions on the two arcs.

Still better than fear being said every 3.2 seconds.

Purely for his hair.

That reminds me of that Offspring song, "You're Gonna Go Far Kid." My reaction was, "that sounds really popish, like 'Fallout Boy," to which my friend said, "Noo noooo they're just making fun of that kind of music." In the end, didn't matter because it was still crap flowing through my radio.

Who is Hines Ward?

Professional wide receiver for the NFL team, the Pittsburgh Steelers. He's the football player in the leaked trailer running towards the end zone while the field caves in behind him...and if I remember correctly from previous set reports is killed moments after by Bane. :wow:

What, did he steal away into your bedroom while you were sleeping and touch you inappropriately, or something? :o

That was horrible as well, I thought Dark Knight would've made them learn their lesson. (in b4 someone mention the two times they said the words dark knight).
