The killer is as important as the Batcave. No, more important. It's Pete's driving force. Nolan left the Batcave out in TDK. Its return is definitely obligatory and expected, but also (movie-wise) going back to BB.

I don't see why not, though. Just because the killer is more important than the Batcave, doesn't mean the latter is not important enough. It was glaringly missing from TDK and its return would also bring back the atmosphere of BB up to some level. It's not the Batcave itself, it's also what it means (visually and thematically).

I don't see Nolan using Bane. I know there's more to the character than Schumacher's effort, but he just doesn't strike me as the type Nolan would go for. But who knows. On a purely visual level Black Mask seems more in keeping with the tone set by the previous films.

Agreed. At this point I don't want to see Bane as more than a side villain, if at all.

See the whole thing with spiderman 3 and sandman really being the killer, seemed like a really random thing to bring up 2 movies later, it was like "oh by the way, it was a totally different dude..aaaaaand plot for a new movie..go." Just seemed like a really lame thing to build a movie on. It took away from two other possible stories, one that had been built up for the two preceeding movies, with the tensions with Harry, and one new threat that had a lot of wasted potential Venom.

My thing with Talia, coming back for revenge, or any other story you would want to tell with her, is that it'd be like if Harry Osbourne hadn't been in the first two spiderman films at all but then quite randomly showed up in spiderman three and was all

"Hello, my name is Harry Osbourne. You killed my father. PREPARE TO DIE!"
