Yep. In no way is Black Adam meant to be divisive. It's meant to be a very basic crowd pleaser, just like all of Rock's flicks. All of the Rock's solo flicks with a B+ were his flops.

It achieved the “very basic” part, not so much the “crowd pleaser” bit.

Didn't the Venom movies get B+? Venom 2 also didn't have China as I recall. We'll see of course, but I would say $500 mil isn't outta the realm of possibility.

I'd just like to get a proper Justice Society flick outta all this. And bring back Mohammed Amer while you're at it. I don't care where. Just make it so.

Aquaman made over 2/3s of its domestic haul in the first 3-4 weeks though. But like you said, it was released over the Christmas 2018 holiday period -- hence the 5X o.w. multiplier.

I think the most generous multiple for Black Adam -- since it has three whole weeks to itself -- that it will probably close to a 3x multiplier. And there's not much competition until Nov. 11.

So I'm guessing that Peacemaker really is safe haha. Random thought but I wonder if Gunn would greenlight Ayer's cut of SS, he's been supportive in the past. Having an actual (good) director in this position is unheard of.

They're certainly better choices than the previous person who was tipped to get it a couple of months ago .

I'll feel hopeful after we see these two oversee some good DC films.

I feel like Gunn will lean into Kevin Fiege in some capacity. So it might bring in some MCU fans right off the bat... not so good news for DC fans looking for a different kind of Superhero experience...

Will all DC Studios' movies feel like James Gunn movies? I don't think that's the case. The Suicide Squad was R rated.

Also, Gunn won't be writing and directing every DCEU movie from now on. He'll probably be more than happy to leave the bigger characters for other filmmakers while he keeps making shows/movies about the weirder and more obscure characters.

What has he gotten exactly? We've seen him with Suicide Squad/Peacemaker where everyone was comedy. Also the guy who wanted to kill Amanda Waller i believe

Color me intrigued. People often floated his name for the job and I dismissed it readily because I assumed he wouldn't want to give up making his own stuff. I guess this arrangement facilitates that.

Gunn's a bonafide comic book superfan. And a talented filmmaker to boot. He might be as close to a Feige figure as they were going to get.

Still, not exactly sure how much they expect to get done in just 4 years.
