Iron Man 2 The "Easter Eggs/References" Thread (Spoilers to minimum)

I am mad at myself because I call myself a so called fan of film and only saw it recently

I only saw it a year ago in film class so its all good.

So anyone else more excited for Thor after seeing the Hammer?

Both Vanko's passport and jumpsuit at the racetrack said 'Boris Turgenov', the second Crimson Dynamo from the comics.

Wasn't aware his jumpsuit said the name as well.

Dangit, I have to go watch it again now. Hurry up payday.

Which is tomorrow...so why am I *****ing...

That's why I love the Hype. Reading endless arguments over the same topic. Webshooters vs organic, Joker's makeup vs permawhite, did Joker mouth the word 6 or 10.

Another great example if you're interested is the argument over Scarlet as Black Widow in regards to the character's accent. :awesome: Lots of entertainment.

Two words: USO show. Roach remembers that. :hehe: Kinda died down for now.

Nice catch!

I'm drawing a blank at this moment. What was the argument in regards to the USO show?

In the Cap movie they are introducing a storyline where after Rogers is created they decide to put him on the USO circuit as an explanation for the suit....I am not a fan of that idea

Dont take this the wrong way but I got tired of argueing with ppl who will every wednesday go to a store to read about superheroes doing outrageous things but the minute someone wants to do a movie then all that creativity and wonderment goes out the window.
We are getting a universe that includes Hulk and Thor but Namor appearing in Cap is unbelievable. Arnim Zola is cast and everyone thinks he should be a normal human ad not bear his striking look from the comics.

That's right! I'll wait to see how it plays out but it sounds accurate to those times when they would send entertainers out to give the soldiers some enjoyment and motivation. I don't think Cap is going to be dancing like some kind of showgirl.

hmm, he'll probably be lifting heavy stuff and doing flips and tricks like some circus guy to demonstrate his powers. Cap will probably feel humiliated and angry that they aren't putting him in the action and forcing him to do that instead. this could actually be good for his character story if they do it right. but I'm just guessing how it might go. lol

Actually it might be better if he does enjoy what he's doing to an extent, because he's doing his duty, but he secretly wants in on the action. He shouldn't openly be like, "I hate being in this damn USO!"

I never really liked Thor, to be completely honest. I hope they make the movie bearable to all of us non-super-fans.. x_X

So, I don't know if anyone posted these yet, but Iron Man 2 might be hinting towards Namor, and to a lesser extent, Union Jack.

what is the USO?

The United Service Organizations Inc. (USO) is a private, nonprofit organization that provides morale and recreational services to members of the U.S. military, with programs in 140 centers worldwide. Since 1941, it has worked in partnership with the Department of Defense (DOD), and has provided support and entertainment to U.S. armed forces, relying heavily on private contributions and on funds, goods, and services from DOD. Although congressionally chartered, it is not a government agency.

During World War II, the USO became the G.I.'s "home away from home," and began a tradition of entertaining the troops that continues today. Involvement in the USO was one of the many ways in which the nation had come together to support the war effort, with nearly 1.5 million Americans having volunteered their services in some way. After it was disbanded in 1947, it was revived in 1950 for the Korean War, after which it also provided peacetime services. During the Vietnam War, USOs were sometimes located in combat zones.

The organization became particularly famous for its live performances called Camp Shows, through which the entertainment industry helped boost the morale of its servicemen and women. Hollywood in general was eager to show its patriotism, and lots of big names joined the ranks of USO entertainers. They entertained in military bases both at home and overseas, often placing their own lives in danger by traveling or performing under hazardous conditions - some losing their lives.

During the 1990s it delivered services to 5 million active duty service members and their families and today "continues to be a touch of home to America's troops."
