Name of character and game that he/she/it appears in: Dr. Gordon Freeman from the Half Life series.
Powers/skills/inventory of the character: Gordon is just a man, no unique combat training or powers. BUT, he is an amazing natural leader (he becomes the leader of the whole Resistance without even speaking,) and with his HEV suit, a crowbar and a gun he can manage to kick some serious ass.
He also has very extensive knowledge of teleportation technologies, which no one in New York has.
Will your character be bringing any other characters, items from their game with them?: Gordon is going to have his HEV suit and the dark energy charged gravity gun (the inventory he had at the end of Half Life 2.) After being teleported to New York he will immediately find a crowbar, so I guess I'll just go ahead and add that to his inventory.
Three dropships full of Combine Overwatch Elite soldiers will also be sucked into the city.
Why have you chosen this character?: The Half Life series is one of my most favorite set of video games EVER, so Gordon Freeman is just my natural first choice.
Can you provide any need-to-know information about your character for players with no knowledge of that character? Gordon doesn't talk much. In fact, in the games he never speaks at all. He is known mostly for his heroism and ability to handle almost any situation presented to him despite the fact that his only specialized training was in the field of theoretical physics.
Also, for those of you who played the games, I decided to exclude Episodes 1 and 2. Gordon's adventures in New York will simply be picking up directly from the end of Half Life 2.
Please provide your sample "blackout" post if your character comes from a different time to the present setting: The Combine teleport had finally gone unstable after the last dark energy orb collided with it. Breen wasn't going to be making it out of the Citadel today. Gordon heard Alyx exiting the elevator behind him, just in time to see the murky view of the Combine homeworld that had appeared in the air evaporate. Breen's final pleas echoed across the open top of the Citadel, and his words continued to fall on Gordon's deaf ears, just as they had for the past few hours. Alyx was ecstatic for a moment and she turned to say something, but just as the words left her mouth the teleport erupted into a huge fireball...but it never reached them. Instead of expanding, the fireball stopped, Alyx froze, still shielding her eyes from the brilliance of the explosion. Time had simply stopped.
Then, that dreaded voice echoed through the frozen air. That man in the gray suit, Gordon's "employer," stepped out of the air again, just as he had done after the defeat of the Nihilanth, both saving and damning Gordon at the same time.
"Time, Dr. Freeman? Is it really that time again?" He said, appearing in the air just in front of Gordon...but something...jerked. Gordon's mysterious employer didn't seem to notice anything, but there was an indescribable feeling...as if Gordon's very existence was being tugged at, wrenched out of its place. The scene before him wavered and stretched as if it too were being tugged away, and suddenly a massive pull ripped Gordon's entire reality into nothingness. He floated for a moment, in darkness, and then everything came rushing back. His eyes adjusted for a moment and he noticed he was lying on his back in an alleyway, the G-Man's words still ringing in his ears and the Gravity Gun still in hand.
