The HULK Thread - Part 1

Hulk was freaking amazing in this movie. His characterization was spot on.
The way he spoke, behaved... It was inch perfect. Hulk fans will love it.

Also his interactions with Thor where pure gold. The hole Thor Hulk/Banner relationship is amazing in so many levels. Their friendship/rivalry is something to behold and truly appreciate.

I always wondered why in the hell did they try to make Banner and Stark close in Avengers 1 when their wad already Stark and Rogers.

It should have been Thor and Banner/Hulk being close/rivals from the beginning like in EMH and AvengerS Assemble.

Well they did start the Thor Hulk rivalry properly I thought in Avengers 1, which is now turning into a freindship. And the Banner Stark thing is very different to the Stark Cap thing. I thought most people really liked the science bros aspect. :woot:

Their little scuffle on the Helicarrier and Hulk punching Thor wasn't enough for me. It also could have and should have been expanded upon in AOU but sadly it wasn't.

I certainly did...

:whatever:

Yeah they could have continued it in AoU.

They turned him into the attack dog who calms down thanks to him being horny for Black Widow.

Whedon also seemed to have a problem with Hulk talking, hopefully that's something the Russo's don't share.

After Thor Ragnarok they really can't have a problem even if they wanted too. :woot:

Well he can talk now, but he could also talk a bit in TIH before Whedon regressed him to almost animalistic and nonverbal because of his own opinions on how the character should be done.

The Russos seem to have excellent overall judgement on what is good for these characters IMO. Of all the MCU directors they are absolutely far and away the right choice for me for IW and A4.

All I'm saying, they might want to go another way with the character, and when you've got a cast that size and a story that probably has more to do with Thanos/Tony/Cap/Star Lord I wouldn't expect Hulk to be as much of a character as he was in this film.

You would think Thor 3 will make that mute Hulk idea go extinct like it should have been the whole time.

If you mean that "give him one line" thing that's not really "talking a bit".

There were opportunities to have him speak all through the film....especially in the cave with Betty. It was the same old mute Hulk as always. Heck....Groot talks more and he just has one line! :)

Surely there is a way to make a character less prominent without making them a mute. Even Hawkeye gets to speak in his small roles.

He had 3 lines ;)

And I happen to think TIH is a pretty bad film btw.

I don't imagine we'll see much of Hulk in Infinity War...I think it'll mostly be Banner with the character arc with Hulk in an action scene or two. If he does speak I doubt he'll be as verbal as he was here.

In the original story he's more chatty because he's in Professor mode, but now we're dealing with Savage Hulk so he'll probably talk occasionally but mostly be there to get his ass whooped by Thanos. He's not gonna be drawing up battle plans and ****.

Oh I think it's the worst MCU film.

3 lines...yay. Now compare that to Hawkeye's lines. Heck...compare it to Abomination in Hulk's own movie!

It actually makes it worse being 98% mute instead of 100% mute. We are shown that he could actually speak.

There has to be a middle ground between talking like a professor and being a mute.

Like...in Thor 3 for instance whee he just talks like a normal character would.

He had 3 lines, which shows he was capable of at least limited speech. I'm not saying that was a preferable scenario, but he got far less verbose when Whedon took over, when really you would have thought they'd go the other way and make him more talkative with each successive film.

Very true.

This is my favorite movie version of the Hulk ever. It was spot on. Hulk actually has a character now.

Going to see this on Wednesday and while I like Thor and his world a lot. I am here for the Hulk baby!

Can't wait to see this and your comments on his role are getting me even more excited.

Hulk was a lot of fun in the first Avengers but after this showing there is a lot more potential for him going forward.

The Avengers was basically Stark and Hulk's movie.
