So what do some of you think about Snyder delving into Joker's past in the new JL?

Jury’s out until #6 comes out, but I have a huge amount of respect for S Snyder as a storyteller, so I’m happy to see what he comes up with.

The idea that Joker was unhinged even as a child is certainly interesting. He appears to be leaning on the Red Hood interpretation, but making out that Joker wasn’t just created in a short space of time.

I guarantee he won’t be trying to crowbar in the notion that Joker and Batman are related, or that the Wayne’s are connected to Joker in any way.

Too soon.

Once again... the half brother thing is not a rumor, it's a fan theory. Do people actually read articles?

A new character description has been revealed, and it has some believing Rupert Thorne will appear in the film.

MR. WARNER Supporting Male (60-70) [MR. WARNER] male, Caucasian, 60s, a deeply-tanned, hair dyed so black it was almost blue, highly successful, New York City businessman, rumored to be running for Mayor. He’s a public figure in the city and a symbol of wealth [STRONG SUPPORTING]

Warner is the perfect name for a DC villain if you think about it.

No, they don't. They should do what I do...watch your videos for the latest news.

Since Joker's mother is supposedly appearing in the film, I'm going to start referring to it as "The Mom Who Laughs!" :hehe:::o

A new interview has come out with The Dark Knight's make-up artist, specifically for Heath. He revealed talks with Heath on future films, and it was Heath who was interested in going "back" to explore what made his Joker tick and how he became the man he is.

The whole vid is a nice insight into the makings of that performance, but that was an intriguing tidbit. Many have cited one of the greatest strengths in Heath's iteration was the mystery of his background. Interesting that the actor himself was still curious in defining that history.

It would have been so great to have a 4th standalone film in the 'Nolan Universe' exploring Heath's Joker. It would have been very difficult though to explain the gap between a just getting started Joker from BB en then already a fullblown Joker in TDK.

I immediately thought of this thread when they talked about that :funny:

I doubt Nolan would have gone in that direction, but it's definitely interesting that Heath didn't want to leave it alone after TDK.

I’m of no doubt that had Heath lived, TDKR would have been a vastly different movie.

Such a shame we couldn’t see more from Heath. I’m glad he wanted to come back.

Damn Heath wanted to get into Jokers origins in the third one with some flashbacks?

What were all you guys saying about Joker being more interesting when we know nothing about him? Even Heath wanted to get into the origin.

Rises would’ve been so much better if Joker was in it. ****ing shame

His other idea was a plotline based on Morrison's Arkham Asylum.

That doesn't mean diddly squat. Because Heath wanted to go that direction in a sequel that means we are all wrong about the TDK version? That means Chris Nolan would have wanted to go that route just because Heath did?

No and no.

When did I say Nolan wanted to go that route? I didn’t. That’s what Heath wanted to do. Clearly he didn’t think the character lost any of his appeal when the origins get delved into. I’m gonna side with Heath on this one. Also I don’t agree that Heath’s opinion on the character means diddly squat. He was clearly excited about the prospect of us learning about Joker’s history, and the fact that he was excited about it excites me too. I wish the Joker movie would’ve happened with Heath instead. Damn shame.

You asked us why we think Joker is more interesting and effective when we know little about him just because Heath wanted to look into Joker's past in another movie. As though that renders our belief completely invalid just because Heath was interested in going in that direction in another movie.

Not taking away anything from the brilliance of Heath and all he brought to the role, but Chris Nolan is the key visionary behind the TDK trilogy, and at the end of the day what he wanted to do with the Joker is ultimately down to him. Not Heath. Nolan was content to have his Joker be a total mystery. And it worked. He's seen by the consensus as not only the best Joker, but one of the best movie villains ever. 10 years later, still sitting on that throne.

Its not even an element I've seen criticized or held against the movie. I've never seen anyone, be it fans, reviewers, critics, or even people associated with the movie talking regrets that they never delved more into the Joker's background, or never got the chance to in another movie. If anything one of the praised aspects of the character is that we know very little about him. The unknown is scary. The only regrets you see regarding Joker is that Heath never got to do an encore in TDKR. We all know he would have been in it had he not passed away.

If Heath was excited about the prospect of getting into the origins in the next movie, then that’s something that would’ve excited me too.

Heath himself clearly thought that nothing is taken away from the character if we learn more about him, and that’s something I totally agree with. It’s cool to think Joker himself feels the same way. You may have the same username, but Heath IS The Joker.

That's fine, agree with him all you like. That wasn't my issue with your post. It was you asking the rest of us how we can think what we do just because it didn't align with Heath.

Its like asking all the Batman '89 fans how they can like that movie just because Tim Burton thinks its boring.

You may have the same username, but Heath IS The Joker.
