Don't forget about underappreciated classics Road Trip, School for Scoundrels and Starsky & Hutch.

Starsky and Hutch is actually hilarious

Bacardi and Cola, do it do it. I think I said that to a bartender one time.

I kinda hope they do make him Bruce Wayne's half brother, just to see the convoluted ways in which DCEU fans will try to defend it.

Which unless Batman shows up at some point, there would be no payoff to it.
Yup. I mean AT LEAST then it'd be make some bit of sense, but nope. What I don't get is why can't they just focus on making traditional stories? Hell, why do we even need to see the Joker right now? It seems like in the upcoming Matt Reeves Batman film, it will feature the court of owls and Penguin. I mean, as long as WB doesn't screw it up, that sounds like its gonna be damn good. Why they need to make a joker spinoff that deviates from the character is beyond me. But then again, it's not surprising considering how badly the DCEU has butchered Batman and Superman at the time damn time.

The sad part is, they're casting all phenomenal actors in this.

What's there to defend? It's not even in the DCEU...just seems like you're looking for reasons to hate on DCEU fans ????????

They cast Frances Conroy because she is good at playing unhinged characters. I think Joker’s mother will be a deranged woman with delusions of grandeur. Sort of like Blanche from A Streetcar Named Desire. Where she spins Joker/Arthur Fleck a false tale about Joker being a Wayne, and he could grow up thinking that. Mentally unstable people often cling to incredibly unrealistic scenarios that provide hope for the future.

I really think this whole story will be put into question by the end of the movie. I think they’re going to go with the multiple choice origin story and leave things ambiguous. It’s a key part of the character, and Phillips and Phoenix would know that if they’ve researched the source material. I’m sure this will be heavily inspired by TKJ. The unreliable narrator aspect will be too hard for them to resist and would make the whole movie feel unstable and insane just like a Joker movie should feel.

By the end of the movie, he could even be misremembering the time period. I think WB will arrange for the movie to technically be set in the 80s, but the fact that it’s a flashback story that was potentially all fabricated or misremembered will allow them to potentially reuse Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker if it’s a major success.

Also note Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s recent comments on playing Thomas Wayne. He’s not sure if he’s in or out. I think these comments are coming because he knows a new Thomas Wayne is being cast/has been cast.

Honestly it would be so frickin awesome if we get a post credits sequence introducing the new Batman actor. Imagine if they could keep it a secret until release.

You’re missing the point. I called them DCEU fans because at this point, there’s no other way to distinguish them from those of us who aren’t mesmerized by everything WB puts out. They’ll defend anything WB/DC, whether it’s set in the DCEU or not.

This is beyond true. In fact, the other day when Gunn was fired the first comment I saw was from a DCEU fanatic saying "Star wars is down, now marvels next lol".

I'd be fine with that. I hope that's what the half-brother rumors mean. Given WB's track record, though, I'm resigning myself to the Joker being Bruce's actual half-brother.

Quite a few of the DCEU fans are pretty level-headed about the whole thing, in my experience. There is a small but vocal minority though, who's inability to criticise anything from WB/DC is approaching Trump fan levels. It's very hard to have any kind of constructive conversation with someone who absolutely refuses to accept that there might be any value in debating the merits of the WB/DC output.

They just can't do that. It completely undermines who and what The Joker is, and what he represents.

Those fans are easy to find on Facebook, YouTube, or twitter, there’s less of them on here. A lot of DC fans aren’t necessarily DCEU fans

Oh, yeah... and I'm one of them!

No, there's not many of the rabid DCEU community in here, thankfully. DC Reddit is like some kind of hellscape of Zaddy-shippers and WB zealots, though!

Oh absolutely. I've met some great DCEU fans as a whole! Theres always toxic ones mixed in, which is unfortunate.

I consider myself a huge DC fan, but not a DCEU fan. I LOVED Wonder Woman, and am super pumped for WW 1984, but everything else they've done has just been lackluster/bad. I miss the Nolan trilogy days, but thats a whole other subject haha

So what do some of you think about Snyder delving into Joker's past in the new JL?

Well Snyder already gave us some Joker backstory in his JL pilot - BvS. Basically Joker killed Robin and that is one of the reasons why BatFleck wanted to murder Superman or something :o

Not at all sure how this 3 Jokers thing is supposed to work.
Gotham had 2 main ones and numerous red herrings.
