Yes. That’s a great shame. The fact he’d rather go play a man with a goldfish bowl on his head is rather telling of how the DC movies are regarded these days.

Give us this please.

Is it bizarre if I'm terrified they actually nail a comic-accurate look? If this really ends up being a one-off, that kinda screws over our next Joker iteration.

Good point.

He would be one of the actors to portray Joker only once! :csad:

Well, thus far, all of our Joker actors have only played him once, for various reasons. (I’m not counting Romero, because that was a TV show). So maybe it doesn’t matter? I don’t know.

Think he means he wants to see a traditional looking Joker in the film.

I was replying to BaelaTargaryen, who posted above me about Duncan Jones tweet saying he's directing a cbm next. He then edited the post.

Eh, just give me Superman movie set in the 30s/40s and I'll get on board with this separate brand deal.

I wouldn't be opposed to that type of idea.

I really want a Batman movie set in that time period.

I’m just so glad that WB is being fearless enough to do this

And I’m digging the **** out of the idea of the DCEU being highly inspired by New Frontier. Such a good idea.

I hope this movie ushers in a new, more fearless era for DC. Different time periods and continuities would do wonders for DC in a world where Marvel is dominating with their classically styled cinematic universe

DC should just go full on Elseworlds wit it

Hey, we still got the Hangover Trilogy guy, so all is well.

I'm of two minds of this project. On the one hand, I applaud DC for doing it. The genre needs diversity in order to survive long term and we should be able to have CBM movies like this: low budget, indie like prestige films with top talent attached to it, telling an intimate story that doesn't revolve around capes. A gritty Goodfellas ish take on the Joker sounds fresh.

And yet, there's that other side of me, the comic book fan side of me...the side of me that knows that this is going to be one of those movies where the title character doesn't really become the title character until the very last frame of the film. Because, trust me, we're not getting any clown Joker in this movie. This is very much going to be a full on grounded origin story for the whole movie, I don't think Phoenix is putting on any clown makeup until the last shot and that kind of makes me roll my eyes because it'll feel like a tease.

But I'm leaning towards positive. If its a good movie that's well directed, acted and engaging and makes me forget about the fact that there's no JOKER in this Joker movie then I can overlook it.

I’m hyped about this movie :funny:
I’d love to see a bunch of one off movies that just give us interesting stories and takes on these characters.

That’s more interesting to me than a shared universe.

I’m not hyped just yet, but I am very intrigued. I think once we see spy pics or some official reveal, I’ll be hyped.

Right now, I’m just confused. :hehe:
