Seriously. If Hammer gets the role my excitement for JL will drop down to about zero.
Part of me agrees. I think because of all the terrible casting that went into JL:M, I assumed it was
all bad.
But really when I think of it, he's a good actor from what little I've seen of him, which is Social Network and J. Edgar. Hell, those two movies alone give him more acting cred in my book than say, Luke Evans, or some of the other actors being suggested here.
Personally, I want an
actor to play Batman, not a guy whose biggest leading roles have been in big budget flops with no story. (I know, Cavill was in the same bad movie. But do we really want two of those guys making up the core of the Justice League?) (I also know I'm alone around here in thinking Immortals was bad. But America agrees with me, as per their awful reviews and bad-to-mediocre box office performances.)
He basically is Bruce Wayne in real life, with very influential parents and all that. And he's got the baritone voice to do the Batman growl. Square jaw, broad build, piercing eyes. He has all that stuff going for him.
The big knock seems to be that he's, what, too "pretty"? We're talking about an actor who'll be the second male lead, at least. It's going to be a handsome man. He's gotta look good in the cowl. And watch J. Edgar, he played the serious/brooding guy very well, goofy makeup aside.
