Justice League was a fiasco and a black eye to all those involved. It's somewhat insulting to think they put that in theaters and thought they'd get away with any type of earnings. The type of effort they put into it was all for the wrong reasons that bloated the budget even more. Truly a case of cluelessness for an irresponsible final product.

Let's not pretend he was forced to do it at gunpoint

Just imagine that thoughts going through Whedon's head when be locked the opening cell phone footage of Henry's face. This is S U P E R M A N you're handling there...f#_#king SUPERMAN on the big screen and that's what you turn in. Unbelievable.

The worst part of it is that that scene is so unnecessary.
It was stupid and just a lame attempt at giving people their “classic Superman”

Agreed. The scene would have worked if they had actually given us the answer to the question the kid asked him. Instead it cuts off and it's never resolved. Irritating. But then again, we don't know if he ever filmed the answer or if he had to cut it out because of the STUPID 2 hour mandate.

True. But in his defense, I think the fanboy part of him couldnt resist the opportunity to direct DC's all star heroes. I think in his mind, he thought he could do it at first. But then as filming progressed and he was given more mandates, and more obstacles arose, he probably realized that this job was just impossible especially since the guy playing Superman could not shave his moustache.

Also, remember, MI6 was supposed to have wrapped production WAY before it did but then Tom Cruise hurt himself and it halted production for months. That was an unforseen circumstance that affected both films. If it hadnt been for that Cavill probably could've shaved and filmed the reshoots looking good.

Plus they just pushed the promotions as far away from JL as possible, why the heck remind everyone of JL again when AM and WW84 promotion just ramped up and gave DC a positive week?

That's basically my view. This period has been such a black eye for WB that I'm sure they want to just move past it and hope people like the new films better.

I honestly think he just did it for the payday. I also think that even without the mustache ordeal it would have looked cheap, bad and MCU-ish.

I actually like the fact that Superman doesn't answer the question. It gives you that sense of "Oh, he loves planet Earth so much, he can't even think about only one thing. But the scene is definitely unecessary, not only because the horrible VFX, but also, that vertical frame, that bright suit, the line about hippos... geez... a quick cut WB, come on!

Agreed. I think his first Avengers film also proved that Whedon isn't the best when it comes to producing great cinematography for his films. The biggest reason why "Age of Ultron" looked as good as it did was because he had a lot of help from Gunn's Director of Photography from the first Guardians film.

Honestly, if we're all truly lucky and fortunate this time, Warner Bros will start to lay the foundations for an ensemble film the right way by developing the solo heroes in their own successful films first before finding the right guy to bring them all together in another Justice League film where they don't mess with the vision and editing of the film.

Of course the chances of all of this happening successfully, let alone Superman getting his own solo film in the near future and Ben returning as Batman for all of this is pretty much the same as Kathleen Kennedy being able to win over the entire Star Wars Fandom to her side.:o

Going forward mostly focusing on solo films for the meantime sounds like what they're doing. I don't think JL2 is even on the slate anymore.

Honestly, other than Aquaman, Shazam and WW2 (and maybe Birds Of Prey and the Joaquin Phoenix Joker movie), nothing else is absolutely set in stone.

you forgot WW94, WW04, WW14 and WW2049 (with a cameo by Gal Gadot)

Despite its critical reception, WB would be foolish not to get Suicide Squad 2 into production ASAP. That movie made bank and with a good script a sequel could give them a HUGE franchise to work with alongside Wonder Woman and potentially Aquaman and Shazam. Heck, they may not even NEED a Justice League franchise.

SS made bank without China, if they can squeeze the sequel in there they can add another 100M to the bank

I'm not sure when they hired that new writer from Gotham, apparently it's suppose to shoot after BOP early next year, hopefully it works out.

My guess is Birds of Prey is gonna be the more immediate priority with SS2 coming after that. They really are betting a lot of chips on Harley's popularity.

I still see girls dragging their partners to gaming/comic book stores to buy Harley shirts last year.

Smart move to bump up BOP to be the first female superheroine/villainous team up film in this era and might be able to spin off Batgirl for 2022 if the film or that character is well received.

I wouldn't mind seeing someone like McQuerrie putting Kara into MOS2 (as a citizen who kicks a$$ saving civilians at the end without costumes) and have her spin off later.

Heck, if JL2 is not on the horizon how about a female JL movie with Supergirl, Batgirl, ??Steve Trevor, Jessica Cruz and Zantana. Wonder Woman can be the villain, she wants her man back =P

The problem is that for this scene and the montage scene shortly after with Everybody Knows, they don't actually go anywhere. It's not bookended, making it seem irrelevant upon reflection of the movie. Superman shows back up at the end, but we never see what this means to the world. How is the world different now that these superheroes have shown up. There needed to be a follow-up to this theme.

ya I didn't feel the montage this time...like Watchmen and BvS's opening montage was awesome but this one was meh for me.

I have to agree with this.

Ditto. I was expecting that scene to have some relevance later on. As it was it just seemed pointless.

The recent Comic Con I went to was full of Harleys, and that's saying something with half of them carrying a huge mallet around all day lol.

Hahaha

I forgot to add Harley to the Female JL, and Mera :oldrazz:

That has the potential to make a billion seriously

Harley, Supergirl, Batgirl, Mera, Cruz, Zantana, Trevor

Pretty sure both BVS and JL answered that question.
