The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 5

This is just fun mental *********ion and not rooted in reality . . . but imagine if, under Trank's current contract, he could walk away from FF at this moment if he had a better offer.

Disney could lure him away, FF would collapse and the rights would go back to Marvel.:woot:

Im sure theyd just call Brett Ratner or Uwe Boll

I suppose this will be a found footage Star Wars film? Gritty and realistic?

I swear, Josh Trank and Edgar Wright have ended up becoming complete caricatures with their antics recently.

Trank has become the epitome of a director who only knows how to make one film, and keeps remaking it cheaply with his bosom buddy Michael B Jordan while slapping on another title over the movie, whether it has anything to do with it at all. And Wright is the epitome of a director who takes decades to write a script/ make a movie with tons of procrastination in between.
Oh yeah, because directors never reuse actors. And Edgar Wright, what a joke for walking away after major studio interference with his script was rewritten behind his back.

:whatever:

Fox could swap Trank for Edgar Wright. That ought to speed up the production of FFINO. :o

Well it looks like Trank has been picked to do one of the Star Wars stand alone films, so who wants to be on if Disney will pick a shooting date that will interfere with him doing FF2? :woot:

Hmm...this could interfere indefinitely!

Between MBJ auditioning for a role in Star Wars last year and now Disney hiring Trank to direct a Starwars film, this does add a huge twist to this ongoing rights battle. Chess piece are definitely being positioned on the offensive attack by Disney.

Lets talk about Trank for a moment. Lets say is contractually obligated to make this F4 reboot, now lets imagine those rumors of FOX shopping around for a replacement to be true. That would imply that there's some friction behind the scenes. How would that make you as a director feel..?

The think tank at Disney say this opportunity and possibly reached out to his agent. The rest is history

Now take MJB out of the equation and keep him busy in a Starwars film where the reception is much warmer and the pay might be larger and that leaves Fox w/o a Johnny Storm for any potential sequel.

Ah if only :cwink:

But yeah, in reality he is under contract with Fox for this puppy. He definitely aint walking and this film will definitely be completed.

(hoping in vain to 'talk that one in', as we say in the uk, lol)

While I'm sure Disney could afford to pay off whatever damages Fox would certainly claim for having poached their talent and killed their film, I just cannot see that happening.

Trank isn't walking, neither is Jordan, and this film definitely will be completed.

(Come on ye Gods, you've liked sticking it to me whenever I let my hopes rise on this bugger when there was no news, lets have some of that voodoo that you do so well now, eh?)

:funny:

There's nothing Fox could do to Disney. People hire people away from other companies all the time. It really just comes down to Trank and his contract and obligations if he breaks it.

I'm sure things have been clearly defined, but we have certainly seen directors walk off projects that were in progress so it's possible.

. . . though usually that is probably based on a mutual agreement between both parties.

Trank leaves FFINO for SW because Disney sets a competing timeline.

Fox turns to their buddy the Ratman to take over the troubled FFINO...

perfection

It's a semi safe assumption that Trank's SW film will be released between Ep8 and Ep9. There is a lot of time to complete FF and then start SW.

Sadly, the actual announcement even says Trank is currently doing FF. He's contracted to that film. The sequel (set for 2017) will likely need a new director, though, even if this installment somehow manages to be good. Considering most of the positive things we've heard about the film (even from the producers and actors) have been about Trank, this isn't great news for FF as a potential franchise.

Will you guys just let me dream for 5 minutes? yeesh :(

If only Trank and some of the actors walked off set (if they were ever there in the first place) like Peter Sellers did for Casino Royale 67.

Trank should finish filming FFINO in 5 weeks time. And then there's probably no post production involved at all for this cheap movie. :oldrazz:

I don't think Fox were ever planning it as a franchise but just wanted to keep the rights and then shelve it until it comes time to make another ashcan movie in 7 years time.

They've already scheduled the sequel, but I fully expect it to be delayed even if it happens. Wolverine 3 is also coming out that year, and they picked an unusual release date for it. I think Wolverine will move back to FF2's slot.

Maybe if Wright were directing this film Fox would have just let him do whatever the hell he wanted and there never would have been a conflict. "Doom as a 90 year old woman? Sure, why not?":cwink:

That scenario is almost shared dream among the faithful of this thread.

Now how is he going to work MBJINO to the SW spin-off---it had to be part of his contract, right?

Even if Trank were to walk off the film (which won't happen) it still wouldn't stop the film from being finished, Fox would just get a new director to take over. The only thing that could stop the film would be the loss of one of the lead actors as Fox would have to go back and reshoot everything with the actor in it. The worst scenario for that would be if Teller was seriously injured in the filming of FF as that would completely screw up FF but would also be a problem for Insurgent (plus Fox would probably get sued by the makers of Insurgent).

Shouldn't it be MJINO?

Disney clearly trying to buy MBJ and Trank out. Money talks in this economy. Why pay a major conglomerate when you can steal the talent and hurt your competition even more? But it's just way too late in the game. This movie is going to flop but the damage will be done. We won't be getting a FF movie at Disney, be it a period piece, or another reboot, for a long, long, LONG time. The market will not support it after this junk is released.

What a travesty. This has got to be one of the most troubling times I've seen for Marvel fans. Not much compared the DC fan ire, but this one hurts in a big way. I thought Disney could pull it off. It looks like they couldn't and we are out of time. Only a Braveheart, "Just ONE chance" speech may turn things in the other direction. But we live in reality. I think it's game, set, match for this round.

But if that were the case, why didn't they buy them before filming apparently started on this movie? They could've done that a long time ago.

They could even have offered MBJ a basketball scholarship.

Do you have any idea how utterly ridiculous this sounds?

I don't think that's really possible to be a one trick pony when you've only made the one film and there's nothing for comparison.

Maybe wait and see this movie when it comes out and THEN make that call, hmm?

This thread should really be called The Negative Zone.
