Yeah, as quickly as they jumped back on the Quicksilver bandwagon once Marvel Studio's announced him there's no doubt in my mind that Fox wouldn't have found a way to shoehorn a F4 cameo into DOFP if they actually could.

Same thing with this X-men T.V. show nonsense.
Who's the production company then?
Who's penning the first draft?

Again it just sounds like FOX's simply throwing their hat in the ring so people will have something to talk about besides Marvel Studio's and The WB. But actually doing a crossover film or T.V. show is another story.

Compensation is also an issue that would have to be resolved. Fox pays Marvel a certain percentage of the gross for these films, but it isn't the same for Fantastic Four and X-Men. So in the advent of a crossover film, the amount that Fox owes Marvel would have to be written into the contracts.

Basically all of this would have to be specifically written into the contracts to allow for crossovers. If it isn't (and all we can do is guess as to whether it is or isn't), then Fox can't do them without Marvel approval.

Then I guess that this is reliant on whether or not FF succeeds. If Fox is really making this just because they own the rights but don't even care about what they're making just like Sony did with the TASM series, then that sucks.

If Fox is making this film because they feel like they have more to gain from selling the FF back than actually making a decent film and want to make it as terrible as possible, then that sucks even more since this film is nothing more than a means of getting Marvel to merchandise the X-Men films at the expense of the fans.

Fox has given us every reason to think it's the latter with the leaked Hobo Doom pic which is ALL that we've seen so far aside from a target render for Thing. Fox engaged in no damage control over the leaked pic. They instead filed cease and desist notices and then gave the press nothing in return but complete silence.

I hope I'm wrong about this and fox will give fans the FF movie that they've always wanted to see but my gut tells me that Fox is banking on this film failing since they have more to gain from a flop than a hit. Part of me hopes that Fox is banking on this being a hit in order to get Marvel to play ball and promote the property/allow crossovers regardless of who owns the IP but the cynic in me is winning.

FOX lawyers - We believe that silence under the X-Men and FF licensing agreements allow for character crossovers, and we're moving forward with an X-Men/FF movie. The studio purchased the right to interpret comic book stories, and some of those involve crossovers between the two teams. Silence regarding this topic implies consent. We will pay the highest rate for the licensing agreement for both contracts, which we believe to be sufficient compensation.

Disney lawyers - We believe that silence under the two distinct agreements do not allow for crossovers. Crossovers represent a "new use" of characters, one which FOX didn't pay for under the existing, separate licensing agreements. We need to agree on compensation for a crossover film, and our opening bid is "All of the money". Merging the separate contracts may also reduce the value of the two licenses as distinct entites, and may impact Disney/Marvel's ability to license these projects separately after reversion.

Yeah, that's the only reason they're throwing together a cheap Deadpool film. No one is questioning that F4 release date change because of it.

Hehe yeah, although I don't think Fox would ever really try to go ahead with something that they aren't really sure that they have a legal right to, no matter what they might claim they plan to do. Fox know that Disney are just itching for a reason to get Fox into a court and start tearing apart the current rights agreement. I just can't see them being stupid enough to give Disney that opening.

No studio does that.

Why would they want a movie to make less money, that makes absolutely no sense. How can they gain more from a flop than a hit??

What I interpet that is saying that Fox may feel that this film has more potential to flop then actually make money by how they're handling this film. Not that it matters being the existence of this film is all about 7 more years anyway boom or bust

So a lack of confidence of it doing well?

Even with a lack of confidence they'd want the ideal outcome of it making more money that it cost to make.

No studio would want to lose money by wanting a movie garner less that the production cost.

Just the same as this movie not being made to be a one-off. They'd want it to become a lasting franchise

No studio takes a major property and doesn't try to heavily promote it, or get the anticipation going either.... but FOX seems to be taking that path

i think right now the intent is just to recoup the cost of the budget, i don't think there's a real intention for this to turn into a franchise. I don't think Fox has confidence in this, they know it will bomb.

Perhaps it's a mild success, and the stock goes up. i still don't think they'll do a sequel, they'll just sell to Marvel

I think the end game is to sell to Marvel, it's just a matter of when

There's only one thing i hate more than the idea of Sony continuing with their ****** Spider-Man franchise, and that is the idea of this movie

Sony might not have any clue about what they are doing, but they are at least making an honest effort to make good movies. I honestly think based off of their reactions, that Sony thought they had a great movie with TASM2 and were shocked when it was slammed as much as it was.

Fox just doesn't give a crap and are putting out some cheap piece of junk because if they don't they lose the rights for nothing. Fox isn't even trying to make a good film. This is far more indefensible.

I had some faith left. But that news about Doom pretty much killed it. lol. That doesn't sound like Doom at all. He is THE villain. Probably my favorite fictional villain ever.
