In a word, Doom. Can you comment if he'll be even close to traditional Doom?
He's an egomaniac. Gets powers. Wears trash bags and a Dark Elf mask and becomes the F4's nemesis by the end of the film.

So Doom being a blogger isn't true?
The blogging stuff is getting blown way out of proportion. Does he have a blogging handle? Yes. Is he a professional blogger and is the story in any way related to that? No.
Fox does not get the Fantastic Four. At all.

They're about as good at making Fantastic Four movies as Stevie Wonder is at driving.
They have to realize they don't know what they're doing . . . don't they? Are they actually deluded into believing they have clue . . . or are they just blindly fumbling and hoping they'll somehow get lucky and it will all work out?
A Doom without powers can modify his armor to circumstances and become nearly invincible. Powers are highly limited in comparison.

Fox is well aware it is junk. That's why they aren't showing anything.
Lining up a sequel is hard to justify when you're embarrassed about your lead-off film IMO.
That is hard to justify when you already have a sequel lined up.
There I fixed it.

There I fixed it. We wouldn't want to confuse opinion with fact, would we?

Fox set a date for a sequel . . . but didn't like the director enough to sign him for the sequel.
What's that tell you?
X-Men Origins: Wolverine had two direct spin-offs lined up (Deadpool and Gambit), plus "X-Men Origins" was supposed to be a new subfranchise with a Magneto film that didn't happen. Dragonball Evolution had a sequel lined up (the cast was already signed for it and they mentioned it in interviews promoting DBE). Moving away from Fox, Spider-Man 4 was announced and was partway through the casting process. Marvel Studios had Runaways lined up. Basically, that scheduled sequel date is meaningless for the time being.
That Marvel didn't have faith in Thor or Captain America and aren't fans of Age of Ultron?

So now we have a whole new timeline and unlike Warner and Disney, Fox is being smart and giving fans films set in the past which no other studio is currently doing.
Age of Ultron and Ant Man will have scenes in the 40s and 60s, respectively. The miniseries Agent Carter is set in the 40s. Rumor has it that Wonder Woman will be set in the 20s.
FOX is setting its films in the past so that they can continue to recycle the same few X-Men characters over and over and over.
