The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 8

Thing is they put out good movies when they give a damn. Still not seeing any money out of me for them though.

It's the same with their network shows as well. They actually have pretty great taste if you think about all the interesting projects they've greenlit. The only problem is they have no tact, patience or followthrough and have prematurely canceled most of those great ones.

Their corporation can be great but there is some fundamental flaw within them that will forever keep them from greatness like Disney and Warner's.

They need to fire their PR man. If they really focused on the X-verse, they can actually rival the MCU. Wolverine, Deadpool, Storm, Star Jammers, X-Force, and Cable.............there are tons of ways they can go if they sat down and thought it through. Heck Marvel turned freakin Guardians of the Galaxy into an almost billion dollar franchise, you mean to tell me Deadpool can't come close to that?!! These guys are freakin idiots when it comes to the comic book game.

I agree. That's why I want to see this stuff go to Marvel. Because Fox clearly doesn't know how to use what they have.

Bryan Singer and Matthew Vaughn are the only good things to ever happen to FOX's Marvel properties. Without them every single movie would've been Daredevil-quality or worse.
It's getting to a point where I refuse to give such a short-sighted, ignorant, petty studio my money anymore. I know it doesn't matter to them at all but the complete incompetence and disregard for the fans is mind-boggling, I can't see myself paying for any of their products any longer.

That is not a bad thing. It should be what Singer or Matthew Vaughn wants it to be. A Studio only cares about one thing money. The less a bunch of businessmen at Fox are involved with what comes out, and the more the creative are the better.

James Mangold should also get some credit.

Anyway, I dont mind if they are not making more spin offs, I wish they would just make films with the main X-Men team.

Gah. We need this film to have as much competition as possible.
Marvel, move Ant-Man to the same date.

What, they were afraid of FFINO?

Marvel should move Ant Man to the Avengers slot and Avengers 2 directly opposite FFINO. It's not like Avengers won't do well there in August. Then at least AOU will properly conclude phase 3.

If Antman moves to August then Fox will just move to July. Key is to make Fox paint themselves into a corner otherwise thye'll just be playing "Leap Frog" for the next 9 months. Groosebumps jumping ship is a disappointment but as it stands I'm still planning on watching Ant-man again the day this reboot comes out anyway. However......WOW next August is starting to look like January as far as relevant movies go. Did Sin City 2 scare everybody?

Hopefully I'm wrong and something surprises me or another studio makes a big release date move.

Looks like GOOSEBUMPS has been moved to April 2016. Shame.

Hmmm. I definitely see the FF reboot debuting at number 1 for the weekend now. It was actually smart of Fox to move to August. They would've been slaughtered in their original June spot.

Trank has caught a few breaks on this one. If BvS was releasing next year like it was supposed to, I believe this film would never have even been made. It wasn't until WB announced the move that Fox finally started moving forward on this. Teller's comments earlier this year about how things weren't even 100% a go pretty much confirms this.

I think Fox is going to have the last laugh here. I bet they have reduced the production budget so much that there's no way they can lose. And they've spent zilch on marketing thus far. They will ride the Marvel logo all the way and rake in at the very least enough dough to cover their budget and then some. Even if they don't make enough for the sequel, they still get to keep the rights for another 7 years. It seems pretty foolproof to me.

RIP FF. All hail Domashev.

I don't think that Ant Man gets moved opposite FFINO, as FOX could make the case that Marvel is violating their end of the licensing agreement by putting two Marvel (well one, actually) against each other opening week. That may be a bit too aggressive, even for the Mouse, especially with an agreement on Star Wars needing to be hashed out between the two studios.

But there's no way that FFINO gets a free release during an early
August weekend, especially after the success GOTG had in a similar slot next year. A major studio is going to put a film into that slot, and Disney may put either plop Brad Bird's "Tomorrowland" or Pixar's "Inside Out" up against FFINO.

Indeed, there's no way this turd can survive against actual competition.

Wow Goosebumps moved. Good news for The Fantastic Four!

There's no way FFINO gets a free release in a summer weekend that proved to be lucrative last year. Something big will get moved there. In fact, Goosebumps may have moved because a major motion picture is filling that slot. Maybe even an actual Marvel movie.

Hmm I dont think those two will move in August. Less competition for this reboot, the better.

It's both amusing and sad that the most positive spin supporters can come up with at this point is "Thank God this doesn't have any competition"

I thought Inside Out was originally in the slot where FFINO was supposed to be released, and that Fox moved theirs in order not to compete with Pixar. Why would Pixar move theirs now? Isn't it already guaranteed the top slot in their July date?

Where's that Incredibles 3D?

It's important to promote mediocrity. Even if the film is terrible, let's just hope it makes enough for a sequel!

No we didn't. We had mockeries, just like this one.

Admittedly those were less mockeries than this one. Those were at least passable as FF movies with the characters recognisable albeit watered down.

This movie is like "Game of Death" where it's a case of spot the real Bruce Lee amongst all the dopplegangers, rehashed footage, outtakes etc.

Disney may keep "Inside Out' where it is. It's going to well regardless of when it opens, and it probably makes sense to have it in summer for a long portion of summer vacation.

"Tomorrowland" may be a candidate for moving, but right now it has a pretty sweet spot with three weeks between it and A:AOU and JW on either side.

Something is going to be moved to the FFINO date, but it may not be a Buena Vista Release.

No Doom was more than watered down in those films. He was an embarrassment. Doom, Reed, and Galactus are my biggest complaints about those movies. Now because those films were atrocious, as an FF fan I get to hear - "Well they already tried a faithful rendition of the Fantastic Four and it didn't work - it's time to try something new! They need to be reinvented!"

And now we get Domashev the angry blogger.

Utterly sucks.
