The "Keep Hope Alive" (that the rights can revert back to Marvel) thread - Part 9

I'm wondering if Marvel could change the logo to further differentiate the licensed films from the MCU. Could they use "Marvel Licensing" or even "Disney Licensing" with Tinkerbill making an appearance on the title code? Can they change the iconic red logo to blue for the FOX and Sony films? I have to think that Marvel has a say in how the title card looks.

Marvel Studios creating the new Marvel Studios title card, with an official 'Marvel Fanfare' did exactly this.

Non-MS films still have the traditional flip.

I think the casual viewer still probably won't know the difference and will just think one is a variation of the other. Both start with the flickering images which is visually similar.

Marvel should request that the Marvel Knights logo get put on this film. It did wonders for the last Punisher and Ghost Rider films.

Yeah....they won't differentiate between them. They see flickering pages and Marvel logo. But once they see the movie, Oh....they'll know for sure alright. LOL

That's why Marvel should force the Marvel Knights logo onto the film. The GA stayed the hell away from Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Fox also couldn't argue that the logo has nothing to do with the Fantastic Four.

They should develop a plain back, basic screen that just fades the Marvel logo in then out again for the non-MS movies. No fanfare, no excitement.

When Sony made Never Say Never Again in 1983 as a rival Bond movie, they couldn't use the gunbarrel logo at the start. However, they did have some sort of 007 logo which was like a grid superimposed over the opening shot:

[YT]ZqqYoLRTgI8[/YT]

The Marvel studios logo and fanfare is like the Bond gunbarrel. They need to compel Fox and Sony to make theirs distinctly different so that there is no confusion, just as there was no confusion with the logos for NSNA. That said, some people still don't know the difference between that film and an official Bond movie, especially since it has Sean Connery and SPECTRE.

I'd love it if Marvel refused to put their logo in front of this. I pray, I pray that happens.

I could definitely see them pulling what we have seen in front of Marvel movies the past decade, definitely. The thing is, the general audience won't notice.

Mark Millar did an interview with Sky Movies, where he goes on to praise Trank and then states he hasn't seen the movie yet, but that he has high hopes. It sounds to me like Fox is trying to keep everyone in the dark, so they won't need to lie about it being good when it's actually crap.

All I got from that interview is that he hasn't actually seen much from the project since he was initially brought in board, then dropped when the FMCU idea was dropped. So he probably doesn't know, firsthand, how bad or good it really is.

Either that.... or he is the greatest actor alive.

Yeah, he hasn't seen the cut that is supposed to be going around and hasn't spoken to Trank for 18 months, and you can't trust the brand. Interesting that its a year and a half ago that he last spoke to Trank because it seems to be just after that when Fox lost faith and brought in Kinberg to slash the budget and rewrite Tranks script.

How do you know he hasn't spoken to Trank in that long, does he mention that in his interview?

Well in the interview he says

He and I spent a wee bit of time together when I was first doing this job, about a year and a half ago.
You would think that if he has more recent encounters with Trank to talk about then he would have talked about those rather than one about nine months before the film started shooting.

When Kinberg was signed by Fox to do a job that sounded exactly like the one that they had already signed Millar to do we all wondered what it meant for Millar, and it looks like the answer is that Millar was pretty much replaced as it looks like he is no longer in the loop.

I thought in that interview the other day he said he had seen it and thought it was good. And I'm not confusing him with Vaughn. It's the interview where he keeps looking to the right when answering any questions, giving the complete impression he's just spouting a load of BS that he's making up on the spot.

If casual viewers can't tell the difference between those two, then they're as simple as hardcore cbm fans make them out to be.

I hope thats not the case.

I think that was Vaughn, you are thinking of. Where he said he had saw the Fantastic Four movie and it was good, and most people including myself felt the word "Good" did not sound like he was all that enthusiastic about the movie and he was just using the word because Fox pays the bills.

Still though, I wonder why they replaced Millar with Kinberg. Perhaps Millar didn't like the sound of the direction they would be taking the movie, and now he is just biting his tongue because he doesn't want to burn his bridges with Fox. or perhaps he really doesn't know anything and when he left everything seemed okay. Odd though as others have pointed out that nobody has heard anything from Trank in like forever. You would think either Fox or Trank would be trying to do something to squash these rumors of problems related to the movie. It is all just seriously odd.

Millar was only brought on to Shepard the FMCU. And naturally, he was out the door when Fox learned they couldn't do a FMCU. And it was then that Kinberg was placed on FF, and the budget slashed.

It doesn't matter, there's no reason to think that box office failures at Sony or Fox have effected Marvel Studios.

Perhaps, but one could also state there is no reason to believe that box office failures at Sony or Fox have not effected Marvel Studios.

It is just one of those hypothetical things where there is no way to gauge the variables since we have only one version of events, and no other option to compare with.

There was the 'good' quote from Vaughn, but there was also the video interview with Millar. I just can't remember exactly what Millar said now and I can't find the link.

He was generally positive, but I can't remember if he implied he saw a cut.

Well that is my point from previously. I wonder how much of the General Audience see's the Marvel Logo and thinks they are going to go watch a Marvel Studio's related movie with it's interconnectivity, instead of either a Foxverse or Sonyverse movie with no connectivity. Also, are some people going to watch things like Spider-man and X-Men thinking it will somehow connect to the Marvel Studios movies at a later date. My point is while it may be a small percentage of people that are misguided, if I was asked is the Marvel logo helping Fox and Sony put extra butts in seats at the theater, sometimes even under false pretenses? I would have to say it is.

No, that was the new video of Mark Millar I was talking about in a previous post. Dark Raven was mentioning another video from earlier where either Mark Millar or Mathew Vaughn had said something possibly contradictory to the video you just now posted. I believe it was the Matthew Vaughn video and that there was just a confusion, but not entirely sure.

That was definitely not Vaughn I was thinking of, and I even specificially said I was not confusing them in my previous post. I gave very particular details about Millar's video with his eye movements and micro expressions, and even had a conversation about that with Flink Marko about how if you look unconsciously to the right, you're engaging the creative part of your brain which is usually an indicator that you're lying or BS-ing, and not recalling a specific memory where, in that case, you'd look unconsciously to the left.

It's this video here:

And while he admits he has only seen bits of it and not the whole movie, he does say what he's seen is "good", which is what I remembered he had said in addition to Vaughn saying that as well. And note that when he does say "it's good" or makes any kind of praise about the film, he continually looks to his right.
