The Dark Knight The Man Who Laughs: The Joker Thread 2.0

^^What??...no way...Batman and Robin is comedy gold!! Check this out:

haha that reminds me, we got to talking about TDK in my script analysis class and someone said it "didnt have enough explosions" i laughed

......anyways....that joker huh?
Wow, people like that irk me :whatever:.
Thats why films like Hancock can make 200+ million, people just don't care for dialogue...they don't care about actually listening and processing what the charecter has said, they just want their eyes to be entertained, which isn't a bad thing...but when you complete disregard dialogue or get annoyed when it goes on for a mere 10 mins, then I pity you.

I don't know it just is funny to me. I mean I am amazed by all the ice jokes that they were able to cram in. It honestly does feel like watching the Adam West series.

Then again I love Super Mario Bros. the movie, but I do acknowledge that these are bad movies.

Well with the results of TDK, it seems that people do like dialogue.

or the same viewers see it 12 times.

i totally understand loving bad movies...

*cough* Magenta from RHPS *cough*

I should bring back my Franknfurter avvy.

love that movie, though going to the actual rocky horror picture show event really makes me bored.

then you need to go to the ones i go to, they are great

oh come on its no masterpiece, its great....but no masterpiece

seconded, sorry CC but it was pretty obvious right away

and of course the point of using dogs is to symbolize animalism
I also interpreted it as being representational of human society, since dogs are social animals and will form packs, but when things get desperate, the pack breaks up and it becomes a "dog-eat-dog world." I was relieved that the Joker came just about as close to saying that without actually quoting it word for word. ("When the chips are down, these civilized people? They'll eat each other.") There's subtlety for ya. :woot:

It wasn't super-subtle, but they also didn't spoon-feed it directly to the audience. The mention and use of dogs was pretty darned obvious throughout the film, but no character actually went out and said that dogs were like Gothamites, blah blah blah.

:lmao: I remember when I reported back from the Wally Pfister panel, and how he had jokingly said that the only way Chris knew how to up the action was to add explosions, and people here were like, "Oh noes this means he hasn't learned how to shoot action! He isn't creative! Aaaah!" :o

Good times. :hehe:

I didn't like Sweeney, but then again I really don't like musicals, gory or otherwise. (except maybe Cabaret, Joel Grey looks like the Joker with his white face and red lips:woot:).

Question, what scene were they filming here?

I love how much he looks like Cesar Romero's Joker behind that foggy glass.

just like

Sweeney Todd = comic Joker (a bit of a stretch but the same type of obsession)
Mrs. Lovette = Harley

ICK. Burton ruined that movie for me....SOOOO much was taken out of the original musical. i understand...some of it isnt.."filmic" but there was one thing that they KILLED......depp had ONE ONE ONE emotion. and that vid that was posted was pretty much it. dead inside. it worked in some parts...but sweeney is SUPPOSED to find SOME joy in his madness/revenge....and what we got was....scissorhands 2. he had no feeling...its SUPPOSSED to imply that there COULD be a relationship/redemption with sweeney/lovett...and all he had was...a "working relationship" ...if that! after seeing it on broadway/the original on video...GOD i wished for sooooo much more. sorry...a bit of a tangent..but i was more dissappointed in that movie than SM3....and thats saying alot....for me. as for Helena...i want her to go away. far away. seriously. hasnt done a good role IMO since Fight Club. her for harley? no thank you...."but again...that's my opinion,...i could be wrong". :)

bad movie? RHPS is a masterpiece.

Oh heck yes. I love it. My whole family goes to see it, dressed up. And Magenta is...obviously...my favorite.

Sidenote, that's one of my favorite production shots from TDK because he does look SO much like Cesar Romero's Joker behind that glass. It's a nice little synthesis.

In a weird way, I think his Joker looks somewhat similar to Romero's, possibly just the hair :woot:

Initially, when the descriptions first started surfacing, I was under the impression that he would be far from the Joker of the comics and previous incarnations, as far as look. I almost expected him to be wearing black trench coats. But aside from the obvious with the paint, he was pretty spot on, still the garish, flamboyant clown in LOUD purple, as he should be
