Saw over at CBM that Feige said something like "Pym donned the Ant Man suit for many adventures in the past." I certainly hope they touch on that in some kind of one shot, or maybe even a Netflix type tv series if the movie does well.

I still don't understand why Marvel decided to go with Ant-Man. Off all the hundreds of characters in it's library, they pick a dude who shrinks and rides ants?

Loved the trailer. Reminds me of the first Iron Man film. A regular Joe thrust into an extraordinary situation. The semi grounded tone reflects that character journey.

Dry witty humour and the chance to see some Howard and Hank backstory and I'm in!
Tony Stark is a regular Joe? :woot:

You could easily have said the same thing about Guardians (many did, actually).

This is what bugs me. People are called haters or whatever just for having a negative opinion. It's silly. If your allowed to have positive feelings during a trailer I, along with anyone else is allowed to have negative opinions.

Your opinion is just as valid as mine friend. I didn't mean to bust your balls specifically but I've been supporting this movie from the get go and I'm just sick of all the people hating on it because Edgar left. I was in no way saying that if you didn't like the trailer than your an idiot or anything like that. I just find it funny that this movie has had so much hate thrown it's way since Edgar left and when it pops off at the BO those who doubted will be the first to say they knew it was gonna be a hit because Marvel or whatver

Edgar Wright's idea before the MCU.

And besides, most of the characters we want are either coming soon in the movies (Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Doctor Strange) or on TV (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist).

Haha well I doubt the final product would have been vastly different. I meant to say if Edgar had released this exact trailer than people would be saying stuff like that. And notice with my prediction I didn't say it was going to bank like GotG or CA:TWS, I said it will make it's money back :cwink:

Any idiot has to realize at this point Marvel Studios is just printing their own money right now. Barring some kind of colossal screw up from Joss on AoU there is pretty much no way this movie doesn't make a good chunk of money on just the MS name alone. Luckily MS seems to want to deliver quality products and even if this film doesn't go on to have any proper sequels at least we now have Hank and Scott in the MCU proper. But I don't think there is anyway this movie doesn't get the standard trilogy
But that is such a misnomer, because Wright wouldn't have released the same trailer. This is why Wright is not making the film. But we are far past that at this point.

Guardians was their first crack at the Cosmic side of the Marvel universe, and to establish Thanos more. What does Ant-Man do?

badly worded. Regular genius, billionaire playboy philanthropist Joe.

What I meant was that they're normal humans who live in the real world, rather than supersoldier's from the past, alien gods, abducted space adventuring manchilds, or secret agents. :woot:

I'm horrible with math and whatnot but is there any chance Ant-Man pops up during Agent Carter's run on TV? Seems like the natural place to explore it and it the FX wouldn't cost all that much if done right. I guess depending on how long AC is on TV we could run into him at some point right?

Are people saying this is going to fail financially? I thought the anger was over the potential quality after they basically had a creative impasse with one of the most talented directors working today?

It's the first film since Iron Man 1 that gives us the uninitiated heroes journey/ origin from a regular guy's perspective.

Should be a unique way of experiencing the MCU IMO.

If Edgar Wright was still attached it would most clearly look different, so your point is quite flawed.

I am also sure everyone of your predictions has been a home run. Though predicting success for a Marvel branded film isn't exactly predicting the Greece to win the Euros. :funny:
Right. I'm sure regardless of the actual quality the film is going to be easy to swallow and at least gets 65℅ on Rotten Tomatoes and is going to at least hit 600 million worldwide because of all the good will Marvel has. If it's really well received it will make more than that. Predicting success is easy as hell.

I'd also like to say that I agree that it is unfair to bash people for disliking the teaser. If one can like the teaser then naturally one can dislike it. Both opinions are valid.

Are people saying this is going to fail financially? I thought the anger was over the potential quality after they basically had a creative impasse with one of the most talented directors working today?

I've seen a lot of hate and some grumblings that this will be Marvels first flop a la the same crap I heard with GotG. IMO Edgar is good but he is not some end all be all. I think just like the Russo's had their shot this will put Peyton in the big leagues

Some are upset at the exclusion of Janet and making Henry old.

For many, including myself, it is. Though I'd rather Wright and I'd rather Hank, that doesn't stop me from being excited that Ant-Man is coming to the big screen. :yay:

Hey for all the Ant-Man fans, good for you guys. Hope you guys love it and it is everything you would want.

I personally can't help but feel that the resources that went into this property could have gone into a better character. Oh well, like I said it's a Marvel movie so it's got my money regardless.

So people who don't agree with you are "indoctrinated" are they. WOW, the condescension in that remark really is something. Your arrogance is really showing. And yes, I've noticed CGI improving between teasers and the actual film many times, and no, I'm not "indoctrinated." Cut the crap.
Way to miss the point, bud.

I think this might have been the first Marvel trailer not to interest me in seeing the movie at all. Granted, its just a teaser, that opinion may change, but for now color me underwhelmed.

I found the teaser to be....intriguing.

But Im more interested in how this film will add to the MCU as a whole storywise. Lots of backstory with Pym and Stark. This film will follow the fall out from AOU. My expectations were somewhat low going into this film so I may actually enjoy it now.

The people who think Ant-Man is going to fail financially are delusional in my opinion.

I believe Agent Carter is only on for the next 8 weeks or so, so they could possibly explore or name drop a Hank Pym in his younger days but I doubt they'd go into any large detail or stories involving him in AC since it ends months before Ant Man comes out.
