Yeah, I grew up with Batman Returns and Batman The Animated Series (I never saw Batman 89 until years later). It's what got me into Batman and comic books in general.

I just celebrated in my own way by purchasing this little item on eBay (which oddly enough, the auction ended on June 19) :woot:

...I didn't see Batman 89 till a few years later (after BR) also...but I do remember some merchandising and stuff for it, and looking back as a kid, I was always more scared of Joker than Penguin......Which IDK, but wasn't Penguin the one people complained about being too scary...I never found him scary, he also was always my favorite villain as a kid (of the Burton-Schumacher films, well maybe a tie with Catwoman, I forgot about Catwoman...LOL).

Wow what an interesting alternate take on that scene that detractors are always moaning about (strong man & the bomb). That would've been more up their alley. Was this Batman dialogue taken from one of the original scripts? I remember Keats saying that originally Bats was more talkative in BR before he suggested omitting a lot of that dialogue.

I wish I knew. Logically, I would think that the dialogue did come from a copy of the script. I would imagine the studio had to send DC a copy of it so that they could get the comic adaptation out in time for the movie release.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure comic adaptations are always based off the shooting script.

Interesting to see the comic adaption in black and white after all these years seeing it in colour!

A scene that still cracks me up is when Penguin took out the Ice Princess with the batarang so he can kidnap her. :hehe:

Ice Princess: "What is that thing, a little camera or something?
Penguin: "Say Cheese"
Ice Princess: "Cheeeeeeese"
Penguin: "Rawwwwrrrrrr" *throws batarang*

LOL great scene. The way she's trying to memorize that she has to push the button to make the tree lights come on is hilarious.

No no wait-wait-wait-wait... I press the button and then the tree lights up...

This woman is gorgeous. Plus, this character once again demonstrates Tim Burton's knack for satire.

Awesome. McDonalds used those images for their advertising back in the day.

I'd bid if I could, but I'll be watching that auction...I wouldn't mind the Penguin and Catwoman ones...

That Primetime Live special on Keaton is priceless, people don't know but back in the stone age before things like the internet and TMZ if you were a comic geek and wanted to know more about Batman Returns you had to check your TV Guide for programs like Entertainment Tonight, 20/20, the E! channel for updates.

I love how they go into Keaton's early beginnings, I didn't know he was on Mr. Rodgers and that he opened up for Cher and that his hobbies were horse cutting, it's things like this that make Michael Keaton not just a popular celebrity but an average guy, and while I'm not bashing Christian Bale but he seems too reclusive.

In a way Keaton's generous attitude reminds in a way of how Robert Downey Jr. is now, just cool and laidback during interviews.

It's the Batman of Zur-En-Arhh :woot:

When and where are those Keaton pics from? Ive never seen them before and they're quite interesting.
