One thing that always bothered me... Was there ever an explanation about the whole change from the costume vault in B89 that held a single costume to the costume chamber in Returns with multiple suits?

Well, it was clear that his original bat-suit was severely damaged in B89. So he probably thought that if his suits were going to be destroyed, he'd better have a bunch of them. Which needs more space.

Also adds to the fact of him being somewhat reclusive after B89.

The point is that Batman 89 and Returns were much less grounded and much more reminiscent of the comics of the late 80's!

That's the stick in the craw, ain't it? I don't like my Batman "grounded." I like the fantastical elements and gothic tones from Burton's version more and feel that it not only suits the character but makes for a much more interesting viewing experience.

Something I noticed watching the film last night:

In Batman '89 Bats and the Joker reveal their true identities to each other with "Ever danced with the devil in the pale moon light?"

In Batman Returns Bats and Catwoman reveal their true identities to each other with "Mistletoe is deadly if you eat it. A kiss is even deadlier if you mean it."

I didn't realize that until you pointed it out. Good job!

It's possible his closet of suits was off screen or something. When he took his suit from the vault it was the more specialized suit at the end of the film, I think.

What's even more bothersome is that Wayne Manor is a totally different mansion, haha.

and is a miniature unlike the real mansion in the 89 film.

Yeah, some sort of homage to this was probably attempted in BB with the infamous line,

"Nitsch nrrt who I ahrmm nunderrrneath, brht whrat I dooooooooooooo that defines me".

Sure he did. Bale's Batman said everything like a Rottweiler with heavy nicotine addiction.

No he didn't. 90 percent of his lines in Begins were practically on the level of Keaton's voice. It was always very clear.

shauner111 does make a good point, my friend. Bale's Batman voice was much better, much clearer and better understood in Begins as opposed to his throat cancer meets asthma in The Dark Knight!

You're actually correct on that, he wasn't as heavy on his voice as he was in TDK even more talky and whispery in the batcave scene with Rachel, anyone that says otherwise hasn't watched BB in a very long time.

Can't say I have, actually. I have seen it at least four times, however, which is more than either of the other instalments.

It's true. The only scene where he goes full-on with the voice is when he interrogates Flass. It's PERFECT for that scene, but not for every time he opens his mouth, as is the case in TDK and TDKR :p

I love the first two, and think the third's okay. I thought four viewings of a movie was quite a lot...

I've seen each one of them in the theater 4 times, some people just aren't as much into repeat viewings.

You mean in the cinema? Then yeah. Ive seen Begins 4-5 times, TDK 3 and TDKR 4. But I thought you meant overall? Cuz ive probably seen each movie about 20 times now.

...I did mean overall. I thought seeing a film younger than ten years four times was excessive!

I have seen BB twice at the cinema and twice elsewhere, TDK 1&2, TDKR 1&1.

Wow. Cool! I tend to watch movies that I love once a year. With Batman, when it comes to a new movie that's in production...I tend to watch my favs a few times.

If I really dig a movie ill watch it twice in a theater. If it's Batman and I love it, ill watch it 3-4 times simply because of the character.

Then there's blu ray. It gets repeat viewings because for instance TDKR (which I love) I watch it once when it's released on Blu-ray. Then ill watch it a couple of times more with family/friends who haven't seen it. Ive seen that movie about 4 times since December. But the other two? Probably a dozen times each. That's more accurate. Less exaggeration.
