A neat piece of fan art I found:

Awesome.

Burton's Penguin will always be a favourite for me. I love the comics Penguin, but there's something fantastic about the tragic story Burton and Waters developed. DeVito was perfect casting.

The only thing that is a letdown is the bombs-on-penguin-army - it goes that slight bit too far even for the fantastical world Burton created. Still, I can easily forgive that because I love the film so much.

I love Batman Returns.
I have no problem of it being dark or being too weird.

Compared to today's standards it isn't really all that dark and weird anyway. I think it's aged the best of all the first four Batfilms.

Words like 'dark' and 'weird' are so relative.

I remember really disagreeing with what Roger Ebert (I think) wrote about the film being 'nihilistic'. I don't think it is. It's actually got a strong central theme, about trying to escape from masks which threaten to take over.

Yeah, it's still dark and weird, but things have changed so much in the last 20 years that it's not nearly as much either. I mean, it's a Tim Burton movie, and where what Burton did was once much quirkier and offbeat, it's now a kind of brand. Batman Returns hasn't changed, but perceptions have, to the point where some people regard it as campy (and I'm not talking about the people who just say there are campy moments, because I'll admit, there are), which I'm sure did not happen 20 years ago.

Yeah, well, Ebert didn't give the Burton Batman movies nearly enough credit. With both, he was essentially, "Looks stunning, but too dark/cynical, the villains take over, and we have no idea of who Batman really is."

I saw the movie twice in the theatres as a teenager, and from now to then, I never heard Batman Returns described as "campy"... well, at least not until the last few years.

Very B:TAS...

I've never actually seen any of this Sean Young Catwoman stuff, so this video is pretty scary. Lord...

Wow that video is insanely creepy, she really is a replicant isnt she lol.

No anniversary edition this year? IIRC, didn't they do one for Batman 89 a few years ago.

They did... but Batman Returns wasn't really the iconic film that Batman '89 was, so they don't feel the need to celebrate it.

Of course it would have been great to have actual new interviews with Michael and Michelle but it's just nowhere near a priority for WB.

It will always bother me that on all the extras on the SE's for 89 and BR that there were no new Keaton interviews it was all from a tv special done for BR and that was literally it, such a huge dissapointment.

They've also got one of the 1940's Batmobiles (with Bat-head in the front and wing on the back), two Tumblers (one camouflage and one black), the Forever car, the Adam West car and helicopter, and the armored Keaton-mobile. No clue as to why they didn't make a regular Keaton car. I'm probably gonna buy the Roadster.

Yeah I'm planing on getting the hot wheels toys for all the batmobiles.

I forgot to mention this here but I bought the official comic adaptation of BR from 92.

Let me say this: I don't want the Penguin duck toy as a collectible to look at in its lovely box. I want to play with the sucker.

I had that comic adaptation. I probably still do in storage somewhere.

So I'm looking forward to it getting colder outside and for the holiday season (in a weird way).

When it's the holiday season, I must watch Batman Returns, am I the only one who is like this?

I've done that every year for I don't know how long. I like to keep a Christmas viewing schedule that starts with some Rankin-Bass stuff, like Rudolph and Frosty, and then time Batman Returns to cut the treacle.
