The Official Casting The Superman Reboot Thread - Part 1

I dislike Costner in some of his roles, but in the right ones, he's very likeable. He would make a great Pa Kent. Which is what I think he's being pegged for.

Wait a minute... people are criticizing him for helping during the Gulf Oil Spill crisis? Seriously?

"Self-serving." Yeah, right. So I guess when you have a genuine solution to a disaster that is killing wildlife and poisoning our waters, you should just say, "Hmmm, I'm going to sit this one out because I'm already famous. Let someone else handle it."

People say the the most arrogant sh** on these boards sometimes.

There really is not enough information either way, not that I did much probing. Even then I don't like to judge. If he is making a difference, good enough for me. Not everyone is like Angelina Jolie and I certainly haven't done more in my life than Costner. The internet doesn't tell us what he does every day of his life, what kind of person he is with his family, or what he will become. However how we view the world could have an impact on who we become.

costner would be a GREAT addition to this movie!!

I am not criticizing him for helping. I was pointing out that he is turning a a profit from it (and then there is the lawsuit from Stephen Baldwin) so he isn't the Samaritan that he was being painted to be.

Regardless, none that has anything to do with being pretentious which is my opinion of him and I think it shows in his performances -- the topic at hand.

Costner as Pa Kent would be great. if he plays Perry i guess that'd be okay too but i'd rather see someone else for Perry White.

I wouldn't mind Danny Glover as Perry, if you wanted a color blind casting..

This. I can easily see him as Pa Kent

as i expected and great choice and like i said a few pages back now get Annette Bening for Martha since both of them worked together on Open Range.

sweet...so is this confirmation that Costner WILL be playing Pa Kent or are they just saying that Snyder wants him for the role?

Looks like they're trying to say it's confirmed.

Interesting casting, like some have already stated, when he's got a good role, he does great, but he also has done bad. But I think this would be good casting. Very interesting.

Funny enough, as has been brought to my attention, KevinCostner.com has a song titled Superman 14, which is sung by Kevin Costner, playing on the site.

I can get with that... Not too bad Snyder. :word:

I'm still sitting pretty comfy with casting #2

Strikes me as odd casting. I know he hasn't been a true A-lister for a long time, but he's still an awfully big name for Pa Kent.

Can't say I'm a big fan of Costner anyway.

Open range was definitely an underrated western and I actually preferred Costner's Robin Hood to Ridley Scotts version. The latest one just didn't feel like Robin Hood and lacked fun. And Robin Hood shot his arrow about 3 times in the whole film.

Both Robin Hoods were pretty terrible though... they need a new one with Cavill in the green tights :awesome:!

CBM is also reporting it as pretty much confirmed.

this casting inspires so much confidence for me, cant wait to see what they have for perry (ed harris/jeff bridges) and lex(would die for russell crowe).

CBM.... I think I'll wait until someplace reliable confirms it.
