The Official Choose A Director Thread

Let's just hope they don't cast Keanu Reeves as Superman.

No he wasn't, although he might have made a better Speed Racer than Hirsh. :hehe:

I enjoyed the film immensely but Hirsh sucked as Speed Racer. He was flat, boring, and completely uncharismatic.

Robert Sanchez:

IF there is any doubt about the legitimacy of IESB claims comparitively, I think you can look at the record of Steve at Savesuperman.com who would have lost any contact he had, after day one of his site and comments alienating Superman fans.
What will people say when latinoreview, hollywood reporter, and variety confirm this info within the next week?

I don't think people WANT to doubt iesb.net; it would be just nice to hear further confirmation. Especially if it deals with Superman.

I know that the movie sites always have issues with variety and Hollywood Report (and for good reason too). But then again, they're Variety and the Hollywood Reporter. I agree that these sites should get credited if they got the scoop first, then the trades. Otherwise, I don't see them as legit journalism, besides a handful (like chud.com) that posts editorials. But it see that as a bad thing either.

Interesting, hopefully we will hear something soon in the trades confirming Robert's report. The more I think about it, the more I really like the idea of McTeigue directing with the Wachowski's producing. I love V for Vendetta and Ninja Assassin looks pretty cool.

Also, McTeigue fits exactly the type of director WB is now looking for this franchise. He is someone the studio can exact a measure of control over and he is also someone that has no serious "baggage" from any other film franchises which means he can really make Superman "his" franchise.

I'm a fan of McTiegue so would like to see what he could do with Big Blue

I really really really hope this rumour is true. I really want to see a superman film that is actually good.

You folks do realize that might not have been Rob posting said comment in Showtime's article?

I thought about that when I posted a comment there, but I didnt wanna call him out in case it was him.

I just want them to keep Routh. Honestly, that's the only solid fact I want to hear. Imagin going through casting again, a la the FlyBy days...the horror...the horror...

Ah, so that's where the supposed "Robert Sanchez" quote came from. I was wondering where JcDc got it from. I thought it came from Rob's site. I won't put any stock in it then, as far as expecting something to pop up in the trades soon. If it happens, great, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yep it come from there.

i've just found it.

Sanchez comments or not, it is interesting that he has left the Superman news on the front page of iesb. I think whether the info is true or false, Robert really believes it is happening. Otherwise after a day or two he would have pulled it off the front page and let things quiet down.

^I hope it's true and Rob does seem to have a lot of confidence in the story. McTeigue makes a lot of sense as well. It's interesting though that no other websites are even commenting on the story, outside of TMT of course. :yay:

interesting news if true. begs the question:who's writing it? they should get grant morrison and geoff johns to collaborate on a script.

Id rather not have actual comic writers writing the script by themselves. Its a different meeting that calls for a different style.

Ya if the bros and that other guy are what we get i think it could work out. Who though should write it. I would like if a treatment/first draft did get into the hands of some dc writers like johns/wolfman/morrison since we know they are working with wb for some dc projects, so they can get all the correct comic elements in place, and then hand it off to some good script writer to polish it up for movie quality script like a david koepp for example.

i picked johns and morrison because recently they've had a better grasp on the character than any of the other writers in the industry. the sheer fact that film writers have been trying, and failing, to get a good superman story on screen since superman II calls for a different approach. jj abrams is a really good writer, and could do it justice if he didn't try to reimagine too much. sadly since his first attempt reimagined everything i doubt he'll get another crack at it.

Ya its to bad he knows now that those changes wouldnt work to the fans and would probably to the character with more of the better comic elements now. But its doubtful he would be asked to try again or probably wouldnt want to get into the mess of superman.
