The Official Dominic Monaghan/Bolt Discussion Thread

What about Stryker's son in X2? That one is either lame made up, or a terrible, terrible mastermind...

Jason Styrker was mastermind in X2.
Yeah, I know. What I mean is that he is a made up mutant, or a terrible adaptation of mastermind...

I know someone in the production said he was supposed to be a nod to mastermind mind or something like that (I think it was the name Jason, as I'm remembering now). If Ratner had done something like that to an existing character in X3, people would have gone to his house like the Dead in Romero's movies :woot:

Jason Stryker pretty much was Jason Wyngard The Mastermind, though. Just revamped a LOT. I mean if the powers weren't a giveaway then I don't know what was. And X1 had kiddie X-Student Vanisher so I'm sure there were some similar changes in X3.

But ilusions powers aren't that specific of a character... is not like Colossus armor, or something like that. He could have been some other mutant with similar powers...
Anyway, he is either a lame made up mutant, or a non faithful adaptation of an existing character, wich are 2 of the stuff that some people claim doesn't happen in X1 or 2...

I don't think it was ever explicitly said that he was Mastermind, so they could possibly retcon it in another sequel. Although it was probably meant to be Mastermind in X2. I just think of the movies in a similar fashion to the Ultimate or the Marvel Age titles.

Exactly. Best way to look at it. You have your 616, your Ultimate, and then your movie characters.

... and your cartoons, Heroes Reborn/Onlaught Reborn, Manga, Tsunami, Marvel Age, Mavel Vs DC (various) etc etc etc. It's a wonder Marvel were ever bankrupt.

So, will Monaghan be fitted with prosthetics?

They'll probably go with the evolved version of Beak, Blackwing. Especially if he's going to have those electricity based powers. Though the birdy Beak would fit the circus better.

This is what confuses me.
The circus setting seems perfect for fitting in the Beak version of the character.

I don't see reasons for having the clean-cut 'Blackwing', so I hope they go with the freakier version (Beak), lol.

The video referred to is also in the "Hugh Jackman Talks Wolverine" thread.

My good buddy "The Lost Ninja" has broken a major scoop regarding Dominic Monaghan's involvement in the Hugh Jackman led 'Wolverine' movie.

During his recent interview with Hugh Jackman, which you can see here, Wolvie himself indicates that he'll tell Ninja a few things about Wolverine off camera. Here is some of the off-camera scooping.

Apparently, Dom's part in the movie is larger than what people were estimating. There is speculation he may even be Wolverine's side-kick in the movie.

As for his name, originally he was called 'Beak', but due to some copyright issues he has been renamed! The new name is either Blackwing or Blackpool. As Ninja says, "Blackpool fits well, if they keep his accent."

I'm not going to lie i really don't know much about the Beak character except what i just looked up but damn he seems like one of the most unexciting characters in the Marvel universe but I'm very curious to see how they would handle the prothstetic's and make-up.

side kick?

How are there copyright issues? And was Monaghan even filming long enough to be considered Wolverine's "sidekick"???

^^Yeah it does sound a little strange doesn't it.Why would there be copyright issues with Beak of all people?

If anything, Barnell seems more likely to come with copyright issues...

It's wierd. I didn't much like Charlie in Lost (He was okay.), and I
never got into new X-Men, so Beak is unknown to me.

And yet, I'm happy they got a guy that can actually act to
play Beak. Plus they aren't overcrowding the movie, IMO.
Quite a few characters, but they aren't just being thrown
in randomly.
