Edward clearly had a good deal of issues well before all the stuff with Miss Kringle. At most, she might just be the straw that broke the camel's back, not the sole cause of his villainy.

I think the general lack of appreciation Gordon, Bullock and Essen show him will play just as much a part in his descent, if not bigger. Plus we know nothing of his background/childhood thus far.

Exactly, It's way too early in his story to tell how things will turn out for him.
I suspect, just like this season has been concentrating on Penguin, season 2 will likely be Riddler's turn, and then we'll see it's way more than just unrequited love that turns him.

I think they've also shown enough respect between Nygma and Gordon to set up why Nygma might feel that he can challenge the police and especially the future commissioner, since the latter does seem to respect his intellectual capabilities.

Wow... crazy to think it was around this time last year that they were wrapping up the pilot. Really looking forward to these final four season one episodes.

Amazon UK have a date set for the 14th September 2015. I imagine the US fans will get it around the same time. Possibly early September.

I get the sense that he's already touched and just needs the right push from somewhere to send him over the top. Having it be over a girl is a good an explanation as any.
