The sooner he is back, the better. He did a great job IMO. What is really impressive about how he won over so many people with his performance is that people knew he was going to be on the show and playing the Joker (or potential Joker). He was advertised on the show for around a week before the episode aired and because it is the Joker, people expected big and had high demands (especially after Ledgers performance). It would have been easier for him to have won people over if his role in the episode was a surprise and unexpected (and not advertised) because then people would have watched the episode and his character with lower expectations. Regardless, despite the high expectations of him, he still delivered. I cannot wait until he returns to the show and he hope it is not just a one or two episode part.

Yeah, the pose and the sculpting on the jacket, gun and badge is really nicely done, but the eyes looking upwards ruin it.

We don't know that this the sole reason for him turning bad. It's just as likely to be only one of many reasons. You're jumping the gun here, give the story more time to develop before you start criticizing.
