To me it seems that the writers have been trying too hard to make the show darker after the successful release of DD

You do realize that they probably wrapped up production on the first season a good deal of time before Daredevil premiered, right?

Best solution for that: They don't.

I certainly wouldn't but I guess it depends if they are going to give Babs a different mom in this venison of the mythos.

I thought it was pretty clear that they're ditching Barbara as a love interest for Jim. They're going in a psycho direction with her.

I hope they are bold enough to go all the way with it, basically writing her into Jim's son's arc in the books.

Haven't watched this in a while, because I stopped at a certain point. Skimmed through the last 2 Episodes, because I was curious how the show was shaping up. So I get to the part with Barbara seeing the torture room, and she just smiles. What are they doing with the character?

Wow, this forum is quiet, guess everyone jumped off this show, huh? I stopped at around episode 16 or 17 and from the sounds of it, I made the right call. Sigh...this show had so much freaking potential...

Hilariously, I just saw someone on the homepage comments ranting about how he hates this show and "all its butt-lickers", especially Sawyer, who he wanted to "punch in the face". :hehe:

No, not everyone. I haven't missed an episode yet, and I've enjoyed every one of them

I can say I really liked this season, and this season finale was great.

They did a good job with the finale, the hospital shootout was badass and they basically took all of the players off the board in the mob war leaving Penguin as the last gangster standing, although I think they left room for Fish to return.

I was worried when Barbara and Lee sat down for their shrink session that Barbara was going to kill her, thankfully when she flipped her **** Lee was ready and they really have gone all the way with writing Barbara as Jim's son from the books. I guess the writers don't intend to worry about Batgirls origin lol.

Nygma's psychotic break sets him up perfectly for season 2, looking forward to seeing how they develop him.

I was hoping we'd get a proper look at the Bat Cave but long term I'm really intrigued as to where they are going with Thomas Wayne and what flashbacks we night get.

They've done EXACTLY what you think they're doing. Barbara goes :loco:

The show still does have potential. The ideas are there, and some very interesting ground work was laid down in the finale. Unfortunately the finale also illustrated what has always been wrong with the show: the writing. McKenzie, the man who is the lead basically, is constantly let down by bad dialogue.

Another problem I think the show has is that it's still unsure about what it wants to be and where it's going. The Flash absolutely knows what it is and embraces it. Same goes for Daredevil. That's why in terms of first seasons, and while I'm still a supporter and fan of Gotham, the show is trailing behind as my least favourite of the 3.

The showrunners need to raise the bar seriously next season as I don't think I'll be so forgiving of the same issues a second time around.

I'm only seeing this interview now... but I'd be happy if Fish pops up once again to cause Penguin some trouble.

I will not be a series regular in season 2.

There's potential with this character, so hopefully the writers give her something interesting to do, if and when she comes back.

I think if they follow through and have Fish as a kind of mentor to Selina that it could be very cool, and make up for the randomness of the finale.

Very much agreed. I'm really not understanding the hostility towards the show I've been seeing in here lately.

Agreed, one of the things I thought watching the finale was that it was a shame they had only put them together right as Fish was about to kick the bucket, but now it seems there will be a chance to explore that dynamic which is interesting given where Selina is at in the books right now.
