So they have to start that relationship between Leslie and Bruce at some point right?

Fingers crossed. Even if it's slightly altered to fit the show's canon, I can't see them ignoring it forever. Especially now that she's a regular. I imagine she'll want more to do than just be in scenes with Gordon all the time.

Given how damaged Bruce is I imagine Jim might set him up for sessions with Lee to try and council him over his parents death.

Fantastic stuff... she's literally one of the best things about the show.

She injected a spark into the second half of the season.

I dunno, maybe I'm hallucinating, but does Morena remind anyone else of (a slightly older) Teri Hatcher?

She definitely reminds me of Teri Hatcher when she has short hair.

Surely WB could step in here and persuade CBS to re-shuffle the schedule?

Gotham's ratings are already starting to get wonky. It doesn't need this kind of competition going into it's sophomore year.

DC is launching so many shows on so many networks that this was bound to happen.

Coming for sure:
Arrow season 4
Flash season 2
Gotham season 2
iZombie season 2
Lucifer
Legends of Tomorrow
Supergirl

In development:
Krypton (SyFy)
DMZ (SyFy)
Preacher (AMC)
Titans (TNT)
Amped (USA)
Scalped (WGN)

Plus animated shows, web series, and other comic shows like SHIELD, Carter, TWD, etc.

DC had to know something like this would happen and they greenlit all the shows anyway.

Gotham's ratings will suffer but they have a pretty lucrative Netflix deal. It'll probably be like Sleepy Hollow or Agents of SHIELD; the ratings will fall but Warner Bros will find a way to limp it into the 70+ episode range for streaming/syndication purposes. It doesn't hurt that, Empire aside, Fox had a pretty brutal season.

Well I agree with you, but I'm still disappointed this happened. Gotham had an incredibly uneven season 1, but I think part of the problem was way to many character arcs.

In season 2 they're already swinging for the fences - essentially verifying a "true" Joker & Freis.

They really need to let the characters breathe (and not disappear for weeks) more.

Leave it to ****ing CBS to give me a comic book show I actually want to see and yet still find a way to kick me in the balls.

I honestly think this was purposeful on their part, and that's only, like, 30% paranoia talking. :o

Gotham team's gonna have to up their game this year. FOX is gonna have to not skimp on advertising the new season. Really go all out.

I think they just did a poor job of finding an identity for the show, and communicating that identity to the audience. Just like SHIELD did.

We didn't know exactly what we were getting with both shows, and no doubt tons of people tuned in just because of the two big franchises those shows are a part of.

A ton of people watched Gotham because it's related to Batman. And then we got a half crime procedural-half origin story that can't decide whether it wants to be campy or gritty or ironic. It's just so disjointed in terms of tone.

The mainstream viewer tunes in and sees the show focusing on the least interesting characters in worlds populated by amazing ones. Why would the average TV viewer want to see a whole bunch of Batman stories get set up but never pay off?

I'm a little worried about Gotham's future moving forward.

Alot of people still see it a tonal mess, one that's nothing more than a weak procedural show, biding time until we get to the inevitable (The Birth of Batman).

It's not connected to any shared universe and is up against shows that actually have characters in COSTUME, flying and zipping around the place, embracing the comic books at face value. We aren't living in the days of Birds Of Prey or Smallville anymore.

I really like the series and it has a lot going for it, but lets face it, the protagonist is one of the most boring aspects of the show and God love Ben Mc Kenzie for trying but he is coming across like a plank of wood.

You're definitely right Sawyer... FOX/Heller and Co. need to go all out with season 2 in order to maintain the loyal audience but also to draw in some of those they lost along the way.

Eh. I don't agree with a lot of what you just said, but I do think there are things that need to be worked out.

Oh, outside of the McKenzie remark, I'm not saying I personally agree with any of it. However, it does seem to be the general perception of the show.

Finally finished the last couple eps of this show and man, they really need to do something different in season 2. It just became a chore to sit through parts of episodes, no specific one just parts of EVERY episode would be just bad. Several times it had a very b movie feel to the acting, script, music. Just a show I had hoped would get better and while some things did for sure, others just kept spiraling downwards. There were some things I really enjoyed, Oswald being Oswald with anyone, Nygma, Bullock, and any scenes with Alfred and Bruce. I give the season 5.5/10, definitely the most sub-par comic related show on tv. Having said that I'll remain optimistic and most likely watch season 2.

Hey TVLine! I want some DC Comics TV scoop, please! Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow…. Give me all you got! –Keith

What I’ve got is… Fox’s Gotham casting for Season 2 a “male DC Villain” described as “intelligent, cultured and highly articulate,” “extremely attractive, both seductive and threatening,” as well as a female DC Villain in her mid- to late 20s — “a sexy knock-out.” So get speculating!
