What that scene needed was subtlety. What it ended up as was a sledgehammer to the noggin.

He was the only one i was really upset about. Wolverine did alot, storm did alot, nightcrawler did alot, jean grey did i guess, collossus didnt do much but he had the cool fastball moment. What did cyclops get? Nothing. Pretty much the same with iceman. I really hope they remake those movies. I want to see a regular team of x-men that we're used to seeing together. Not just a random assortment like first class

I'm very disgruntled about Cyclops's role in the X-Men films, not only did his screentime and chararcter arch take a backseat to Wolverine, Storm & Co, but he only used the full power of his optic beam twice (at the sky and at the water).

Iceman didn't even surf on his ice bridge, I thought he would become the Iceman we know and love in Last Stand but sadly the most he did was cover his body with ice.

Colossus was also treated pretty badly, he's the strongest X-Men member and he never even lifted a car. He was also in the same film as the Juggernaut and they didn't even fight.

^^ agreed.
I still think First Class was pretty 'meh.'
It bothers the s**t outta me that now it's up there on lists of the greatest CBMs ever.
X2 was the pinnacle of the X-franchise, and even that film had a few serious flaws

Not to derail this thread any further, but First Class to me was easily the best X-men film yet. Like others have said, unless you already knew who Cyclops was, there's no way you could surmise he was the leader. Storm was underutilized as well over the course of all 3 movies, not to mention Iceman or Colossus (who just so happens to be one of my favorites :cmad:)

I love Wolverine like the next guy, but he would've been eligible for his own solo movie regardless because he's just a cool character. There was no reason for him to take center stage

The incredible hulk is the only superhero film where 2 powerhouses have really slugged it out. I hope the avengers fixes that! same with superman!

Even the fight in TIH could easily have been more, considering the combatants. In fact I'd say that given who was fighting, it was pretty small in scale. I enjoyed it but had hoped for something even more city shaking/epic.

I'm glad they fought though. And they didnt shy from showing us the fight

True dat. But to give me what I had running around in my imagination would've added another $25-50M to the budget. I'm talking a fight that would range from Harlem down to Wall St. and from the top of the Empire state building to the depths of the subway system with many a skyscraper becoming collateral damage and toppling over in the process.

Unfortunately they didnt have the confidence or budget to do that. That wouldve been amazing.

Yeah. It's just too bad they couldn't have gotten it right the first time. However, had they done that then Hulk would still be hostage over at Universal like Spidey is at Sony & X-Men are at Fox.

The Incredible Hulk was distributed by Universal. They've been involved with all live-action versions of the Hulk since the days of the TV show (also by Universal).

Yeah the way they were hyping that fight in the interviews I was expecting to see them throw several large vehicles, knock each through a few buildings, and body slams that left craters in the street.

However, I was still satisfied with the fight that we ended up getting.

I'm glad they fought though. And they didnt shy from showing us the fight

Unlike X-Men Last Stand which cheated us out of an awesome Colossus/Juggernaut fight and instead gave us a one-sided Juggernaut/Wolverine beatdown.

If the Hulk is truly treated like a separate and intelligent entity in the Avengers, would it be reasonable for the Hulk Persona to not only be angrier than usual for Banner having repressed him for 2 years, but also unwilling to transform back into Banner anytime soon?

That makes perfect sense to me. I'd love to see that applied in the movie.

^^^ Makes perfect sense to me as well, it would give Hulk more layers and have him finally come across as an actual character on film.

I liked the way the Hulk looked in TIH but i am not too sure abot Ruffalo's version but we will see, I wont knock it yet.So do you guys think they will go with a story similar to Ultimate Avengers where Hulk is the enemy or do you think they will go with it but end up allowing Hulk to join the Avengers? As far as the trailer you see that Banner is with them but we dont know if he has it in control fully, is he being made by SHIELD to help them, was he finally caught by Fury etc? So many ideas...

The original Avengers first "assembled" to battle a Loki-tricked Hulk, and as you already mentioned, they did something similar for the Ultimates, so I would be shocked if that's not what happened initially.

Banner has always been the black sheep of the group due to his...unstable situation, so even if he's managed to gain some sort of control, I doubt the rest of the group would just take his word for it

Well, I'm just recounting everything that I've heard so far:

1. The Hulk has been presented and spoken as both hero and member of the Avengers, so I'm figuring that his role on the good side will be better defined than in recent interpretations. If anything, his role and characterization may be something similar to what they're currently doing with him in the animated Avenger Series.

2. We do know that Fury does want to recruit Banner for his expertise in Gamma Radiation and that supposedly, SHIELD did have a cage build for the Hulk a while back that was intended for him, but for whatever reasons, they stopped actively pursuing the Hulk as a immediate threat. I think it was also mentioned in the NY Con Clip that Black Widow told Bruce that SHIELD was actually secretly protecting him from other "parties" on trying to capture him and such.

3. It was said in the EW article that the Hulk will have one moment where his anger gets out of hand that results in the Avengers having to physically confront him, but that's as far as I see it going since I don't see the Hulk being portrayed in the morally gray area in this film.

4. I do remember Josh saying that won't see a Ultimates presentation of the Hulk where he's a bad uncontrollable guy that can eat people.

The desription of the photage shown where they suggest Banner has not had an incident in 2 years suggests to me that the Hulk is just below the surface as the

"Stop Lieing to me!!" Line appears to come out of know where as if the split persona is there being somewhat repressed but still somewhat vocal

I think i'm going to like this Banner. He's got that look that he has something dark in him...but he himself is very insecure.

I wonder if that happens when Widow tries to recruit Banner. I would hate for that to happen in the middle of the film i would prefer it happen right in the first 45 minutes of the movie

I think they have abandoned the initial story concept whereby the HULK was going to be the initial threat that the team will face. Everybody was expecting this and that the HULK would then join the team to deal with a later greater threat. This I think has changed. The after-credits scene in TIH suggests the original story, but The Consultant short is a deliberate attempt to change that.

Is Banner wearing glasses. Wow keeping it real.

You could look at it that way...

I never really wanted Hulk to be the "villain" in this film anways, he's basically been portrayed as a rampaging monster in both of his films so it's about time he's shown in a more heroic light.
