The Avengers The Official 'Hulk in Avengers' thread. - Part 3

Looks like they finally want to give Hulk the importance he deserves,I'm starting to believe that he will be something special in the movie.

So is everyone glad to hear that as of the moment, the hulk is being treated as a separate entity from banner in this film? Personally, I'm glad that it's happening since imho, this is the treatment that the Hulk character has been in need of for awhile on the big screen; that he is a character himself as well.

It's interesting to note that it seems like SHIELD wants to recruit Banner for his gamma rays expertise and not the Hulk actually. I wonder how the Hulk will eventually come in and fit into the equation of being a member of the team?

As for the two years comment, I wonder if the scene at the end of TIH now means that because of that moment, Bruce had learned to gain further control in suppressing or bringing out the Hulk at more towards his will instead of the hulk's.

Yeah, I'm thinking that Joss is going to stress the conflict between Banner and Hulk himself. It's not so much that Banner is afraid of Hulk anymore; it's that he genuinely does not want the Hulk to get out anymore....and vice versa. I always love the portrayals of Hulk in the comics where he shows an abiding *hatred* of his human counterpart, and does everything in his power to keep *Banner* repressed, in the same way that Banner tries to keep the Hulk repressed.

Also, the fact that gamma radiation is attached to the Tesseract adds yet another dimension to the "Arc Reactor Theory" --- in that whatever powers the Cosmic Cube may wind up being identical to the power driving Tony's arc reactor as well as the gamma explosion that fueled the birth of Hulk.

Tan pants?

Hulk looks horrendous. He's not nearly as tall or bulky as he needs to be.

And this just excites me even more as to what we may see from the character development of BOTH characters, especially the Hulk, since I feel we as fans have been robbed of that in the films.

I want to see the Hulk treated and interpreted as a different character from Banner, and I want to see on how the Hulk and Banner finally come to coexist in one form or another, let alone choose to help the Avengers deal with the Alien Menace so that the Hulk can be portrayed in a more heroic light.

That should be a pretty cool scene, though I hope "he" does come out.

I love how Ruffalo alludes to "Him" They will slowly build almost a sense of dread, and then when Hulk makes his big appearance, it will be that much more awesome. It looks like the rest of the team with the exception of Tony, are scared sh*&less of Banner unleashing the Hulk, as they should be.

It reminds me of The Ultimates quite a bit. Shield recruits Banner for his knowledge and genius, and The Hulk is something they are praying doesn't show up.

Thankfully though, we don't have a hulk who eats people and acts more menace than good.lol

For sure. I saw Whedon talking about Cannibal mass murdering Hulk, and how they could never go with the Ultimates version on film. I was honestly shocked the first time I read Ultimates when I saw that they turned Hulk into a mass murderer. It did however make for a great story of Banner having to live with the fact that he killed all of those people.

Banner calls hulk the 'other guy' , i like it :D

I heard somewhere that when he sort of threatens romanov in this scene, she looks scared ****less. can anyone confirm? cos scarjo looked super tough in im2, i wanna see her and everyone else fear the hulk.. just wondering

Yeah, that would make sense because in the movie continuity, no one except Betty really knows that Hulk isn't just a rampaging monster.

Idk; I mean, I thought that SHIELD was aware of how the Hulk was responsible for stopping Blonsky from terrorizing New York as shown in "The Consultant". Course then again, yeah, Betty is the only one who saw the more gentle side of the Hulk during that quiet moment in the thunderstorm.

Everyone on the team knows that The Hulk is a rage filled engine of destruction. Stark seems to be the only one who wants to piss him off and see him transform, simply out of scientific curiosity and the fact the he thinks it would be cool to watch. The team knows and has seen what SHIELD has shown them- Hulk utterly destroying everything that General Ross and the army threw at him on the college campus. They are terrified of Banner Hulking out, especially in close quarters.

To get technical it was her and Doc Samson when he told Ross that he protected her from that explosion.

I suppose Thor might not be as intimidated by Hulk as the rest of them. He's smakced around everything from Frost Giants to Trolls with his hammer. Hulk might just be another monster to him.

Yeah I don't think he's gonna be afraid, he'll probably feel right at home with Hulk.

Jeez, imagine what half of the US would go through if a pissed off Hulk went toe to toe with the arrogant and brash Thor at the start of his film? After going through the areas that they've fought in you would think that a war just took place.lol

Now THAT would be a much more epic Thor/Hulk fight than anything we're gonna get in the Avengers.

I don't see Thor passing up the chance of testing himself ahainst The Hulk. It's just a matter of opportunity. We did learn from the panel tonight, that Loki will go one one one with Hulk, and Hiddleston said that Loki has to "Ruffalize" before he fights Hulk. I'm assuming that means we'll see a hulked out Loki for a bit. But Hulk isn't your average monster- every time Thor whacks Hulk in the head with Mjolnir, Hulk will just get more pissed off and hence stronger. I just think it's lame that Hawkeye will be able to take out Hulk with Adamantium tipped tranq arrows in the movie. Whedon pulled that straight out of The Ultimates.
