The Avengers The Official 'Hulk in Avengers' thread. - Part 6

If you saw The Private War of Dr. Doom yesterday from EMH, the constant rivalry between Hulk and Thing is exactly how he should be in regards to any future Avenger flicks with Thor.

Maybe he shouldn't tackle Thor, every time he sees him though. As funny as the Episode was, it was almost childish. I want Hulk to call Thor goldilocks though. At least once.

Well, not tackle him every moment he gets, but just get angry because his relationship with Thor, Wolverine, and Thing often just amounts to a dick measuring contest. All four of them are decent enough guys, but their egos.

Your making me want to Hulk out and smash. Comparing Pak to Simonson? Ugh. They aren't in the same solar system. One guy expands the mythos in ways future writers look to as an example, the other guy invents magic perfect subconscious precognition so he can turn Frankenstein's monster into Jesus.

Peter David is the Simonson of the Hulk mythos if I ever saw one.

Yeah you're right, I guess JMS would be a better comparison to Greg Pak than Walt Simonson.

I like your way of thinking.

I loved it when the one card fell out of Hulk's hand and he leaped over the table to tackle Thing. Classic

I choked on my drink when he literally used Thing like a hammer to smash the robots..hilarious

I wish they would've both been tackling each other and using each other weapons, because it does kinda seem like they used Thing just to make Hulk look good.

True, even though the Hulk dominates the Thing often in comics it would've evened things out for the viewers.

I kind of hope they don't do a Hulk tv series after this movie. I think it will only confuse audiences since the show isn't supposed to be canon with the MCU. Plus, how do you give Hulk villains to fight on a tv show budget without scaling down his powers immensely?

They've got Mark Ruffalo on board, I doubt they'll just abandon the character in the films with such a talented actor signed up.

Hulk is toned down enough on the show, getting taken out by Hawkeye and BW was enough.

Really it was Black Widow, Hawkeye didn't really do anything significant and what does that have to do with Thing and Hulk taking turns tackling & smashing each other?

Because the Hulk is far more powerful than the Thing, even though Ben is under-rated.

In a show about the Avengers, I am A. OK with Thing being used as a hammer by Hulk on Doom bots. If Hulk was on an F4 show I'd expect something to that effect from Thing on Hulk

I laughed more on this episode than I did(which was not at all) at anything USM gave me. When Hawkeye opens the door and Hulk dives out at Thing was also a good one. Not as good as at the card table, but still a great moment of humor, imo

Hulk's not much more powerful than The Thing, he's stronger but Ben is able to go toe to toe with him.

Ben isn't really able to go toe to toe with him, but it's his heart that won't let him quit. Hulk would struggle to keep him down. Thing's like a Bulldog.

I was okay with the thing getting punked because it was the avengers' show.

Honestly, Thing isn't "almost as powerful" as the Hulk. There is a pretty big gap in their strength. Ben is powerful enough that he can fight the Hulk and not immediately lose, but I really can't see any credible way for him to win.

Ben can put up a fight for a little while, but his power does not increase like Hulk's.

Re-read my post, I didn't say he was "almost as powerful" as the Hulk and they're both class 100 so I don't see where the big gap comes from.

Defensively the Thing is on par if not above the Hulk but not Offensively. He can stand up to the Hulks beatings but It's a downhill fight for him.
