I've been saying that Avengers Hulk is the perfect amalgam of both '03 and '08 hulks. He got the best elements of both.

I don't see it....

To me it looks like they started over and just based the new Hulk design on a handfull of comicbook Hulks.

Eh, I can understand that. To me it just looks like they went with a more defined hulk '03 body with elements from TIH and jack Kirby's hulk. Especially Kirby's Hulk...the face is almost exact.

Honestly, I like the 2003 design better than the 2008 design. Yes, its inferior CGI, but IMO it was better designed CGI. YMMV.

The 2012 version is the best yet, though.

They say the best CG doesn't even look like CG.

Making a humanoid CGI character is always going to be the toughest thing to do...but from what we've seen the Avengers Hulk is looking like perhaps the most amazing CGI creation ever.

I really think if they nail the Hulk both as a character and as a cgi creation they will be in prime position to have a brilliant movie.

I'm pumped for Ruffalo, I like what he and Whedon are describing Banner the character as....world-wearniess yet still down to flirt....I think they have the right idea (finally)

Yeah nailing it is definitely tough.

But I'm incredibly happy when I compare the I Am Legend Hulk roaring in my avvy to the Hulk roaring in the Avengers trailer. ILM has done their work and then some. :woot:

Some roaring shots from all Hulks for comparison:

Yeah. There is none. Avengers Hulk all the way. :bh:

Cool lineup there Son of Coul.

It was a little disappointing for me that while '08 Hulk had many traits I liked (longer hair, darker skin, and more muscular looking) his overall CG presentation was unimpressive.

Hulk '03, despite being made in '03, was amazing looking, down to the sand in his hair. However, his skin tone was a bit too fluorescent for my taste, and the whole thing with him growing to 17 feet tall was a bit much.

Avengers Hulk is damn near perfect. He takes a lot of cues from Kirby's Hulk (A design I've always loved) with the ridged brow and ape-like demeanour. Not to mention that he has visible facial stubble, chest hair, and a bunch of other crazy details that really make him seem much more real than his previous incarnations.

Now he isn't smooth Any more like the last two although I always wanted to see what hulk would look like in the 2003 version with the beard because of the end his eyes turn green that would have been cool to see

Perhaps the only thing I don't like too much is the fact he has white/gray hair in some spots

I like that Hulk actually looks like a Hulked out Mark Ruffalo. Neither Hulk 2003 or TIH 2008 looked like Eric Bana or Edward Norton.

I'd say '03 Hulk had many similarities to Bana...especially his eyes and nose....but that's just me :woot:

'08 Hulk had absolutely no resemblance to Norton, and I always disliked how Hulk's hair magically grew longer when Banner Hulked out, and then shrunk back into his head when he reverted back. A small nitpick, but it annoyed me haha.

Avenger's Hulk is Ruffalo through and through, down to the mouth and the small grey on his sideburns. ILM ftw.

Yeah but does that mean if ruffalo's hair was completely grey/white would you still think hulk would look good like that

I like my Hulk looking like his actor, so, personally, yes, it would make sense given the circumstances. But they wouldn't go for that in a film, unless they planned on doing Maestro or something crazy.

You could probably chalk it up to Banner just getting early gray hairs due to the stress of being Hulk, period. The only characters that aren't really in the 30-40 range are Cap and Widow, unless they're going with the retcon of her being older than she looks.

My thoughts exactly. Having a rage monster dwelling in you that you have t keep suppressed is bound to take a toll on your hair. Either way, it's an awesome little detail.

Actually that was one of the complaints about '03 Hulk, that some of the time he looked like a big version of Bana, you can espcially see if right before the dog fight.

On the subject of detail, stubble, pores etc, well '08 and '03 did have those things, it's not something exclusive to the new Hulk. I love the new Hulk as much as the next guy but I'm not going to completely forget the achievements of the previous Hulks, all Hulks had these impressive details, it just seems '12 has done it in the most realistic and convincing way.

Exactly. Not to say that the previous Hulk's were bad...I love '03 Hulk and I am OK with '08 except for that scene on campus when he roars.

ILM has such a good hand in creating movie monsters that I'm just excited for what's to come based on all the detail we've seen.

This whole thing does remind me of that CG test ILM did for Frankenstein back in 2000. It's still floating around the web.

His teeth and eyes in particular look amazing when compared to the other two.

I actually like the green/grey tinge on the teeth from 08. The guy is completely irradiated with gamma, the idea that he has perfectly white and straight teeth after transforming into an 8 ft tall monster is a little odd. I am glad they got rid of the bright green eyes, though, seeing a few flecks of green as he gets irked or a bit more angry would be neat.

Avengers Hulk is still amazing compared to the other 2.

Traditionally, comic book artists never tried to make the Hulk look like Banner.

We have the opposite in Avengers; Ruffalo's hair appears longer than the Hulk's. This makes even less sense to me. Everything on Banner expands when he becomes the Hulk--muscles, bones, etc. It would make sense that his hair looks a tad more wild and flailing around than mild-mannered, neatly coiffed Banner's. (Just as it was portrayed in the comics.)

Avenger's Hulk is Ruffalo through and through, down to the mouth and the small grey on his sideburns. ILM ftw.

If we're okay with Banner's skin changing color, then why shouldn't his hair change color? I'm just not a fan of a Hulk with gray hairs. Rufflao has brown eyes, but the Hulk has green eyes (as it should be).

This is all very minute in the grand scheme of things. The movie looks amazing and the Hulk looks incredible!
