The official INCREDIBLE Hulk thread........... - Part 1

But I don't get that. Jen has already been seen plenty of times able to de-Hulk and Hulk out at will, and that issue of Red Hulk (no, not the monthly title Hulk that strangely only stars Red Hulk, I mean the 3 part Fall of the Hulks mini literally called Red Hulk) suggested that Rick could always turn back into Rick, but just didn't want to.

Rick lost the ability to transform to his human half a while back, and in issue #632 Arm'Cheddon/Armageddon
de-powered both Rick and Jennifer Walters completely taking their powers and poisoning them. So when they got their powers back via a Hulk wish, they received it in a perfect way that they imagined it.

What?
Why the f*** would Rick actually want to be A-Bomb? Why wouldn't he wish for Captain Marvel's powers or the Destiny Force back or something sensible?

C'mon Silvestri is awesome.
He's definitely not the worst of the Image alums. His style is just really easy to make fun of. :oldrazz:

As A-Bomb, Rick is in the league of Hulk before he goes Worldbreaker, Rulk, Red She-Hulk and Thor. You can't get that much more powerful than that. Although I admit I would have worked on the look.

I used to be a huge Silvestri fan. I think he has never found the perfect inker for his sketchy art style however.

Not feeling the giant arm veins he's given Hulk in that one promotional pic.

With the Destiny Force, he's beyond all of them, and he gets to look like himself. I know he obviously chooses to go back to being A-Bomb because the story demands it, but it's just really weird to me.

I wanna talk in all spoilers, too.

No? Rick could always change back into his human form as far back as Red Hulk #3 suggested. The issue was that he A) felt guilty for being the one responsible for turning Doc Banner into Hulk, and B) he just liked being a Hulk, so he choose to always stay in A-Bomb form. Heart of the Monster didn't need to use the Wishing Well/Poisoning angle to have him change back at will. Supposedly he always could and just never wanted to.

IIRC Rick originally had the ability to change at will but lost it somehow along the way.

I'm thinking that that was an old sketch that Silvestri submitted as the Hulk from the internal art for the issue has a beard and is less veiny.

No doubt the Destiny force basically makes a person a god, but if anyone possessed that power, it'd make them less interesting as a character. There would never be any real challenge or threat.

I wanna talk in all spoilers, too.

Join the fun. :yay:

When Rick was first revealed to be A-Bomb he could change to his human form, but sometime during WWHs or a short time after, it was revealed that he lost the ability.

Thanks for the assist.

It's always a pleasure to see you here...and there. :woot:

Wow, it's been a while since this thread saw any life.

What's everyone's opinion on the new Hulk? I think it looks interesting, but I'm being cautious. I really enjoyed Pak's run, so I'm just a bit weary of a drastic new direction.

Oh and I think I thoroughly enjoy the Boar henchmen. lol :woot:

How do you have a character named "Von Doom" - with a scar on her face, no less - and have her claim "no relation?!?"

I flipped through it at the shop. Seemed stupid, especially those last couple pages. Definite pass.

I'm willing to give Aaron a lot of leeway considering the outstanding quality of his other work. I liked the first issue, WATX was way better but that's a franchise that's been in the crapper much longer than the Hulk. I'm gonna stay on board for at least the first arc.

Great read. Far better than anything Pak did in his last run. Can't wait for #2!

What is essential reading post World War Hulk to catch up to the current series?

As far as I can tell, nothing? It's pretty much just Hulk dealing with new situations and characters, without the baggage of the older stuff.

But seems like theres a bunch of new baggage. He has kids, theres a Red Hulk. There was a "Fall of the Hulks". Betty is now a Hulk?

And none of that is being used in the preliminary arc of this new IH. Sooooooo, yeah, you don't have to read anything specifically to start here. If you insist, go read Fear Itself to see Hulk go evil and split from Banner.
