The Dark Knight The Official Katie Holmes/Rachel Dawes Thread!!

I like Katie a lot in Begins. I dont want Rachel Dawes to die so maybe she just leaves Gotham and this makes room for her to return in part 3.
One's first love always has a strong impact in your life.

The guy almost killed someone so you're supposed to do tonsil hockey with him? That slap made Bruce see the light. You go Rachel!

That scene was very much enjoyed on the theatre. The women were giggling and the men were in shock but were laughing.

Hell it was shock and awe for me too.

I liked the double slap, she shouldve done it 4 times that wouldve been cool

Then Bruce shouldve punched her in the face, and shed fall unconcious...thatd be random and shocking!!

You need to get out more if that scene put you into a state of shock and awe.
I wasnt giggling when I saw it, neither was anyone else in the theatre nor was anyone laughing during any of the 5 times I saw it. I cant imagine what showing or theatre you went to that had that kind of audience reaction.

You make it sound like the character is an incredible role model or something.

Dont compare the population like the way you reacted like our opinions dont count and you're the only one that is right.

And yes she is the a good role model. Most TV females and movie female characters are written so degradingly and usually one dimensionals or
the usual stereotype. Bruce thanked Rachel in the end because in a way she made him a better man, she was hard on him because she knows he is destined to be great. She is instrumental that Gotham got Batman.
Ofcourse we have to add Alfred too and the Wayne family.

I didnt say I was right, just different, and that I consider your reaction to that scene different than what I perceived to be the normal reaction.

I didnt say everyone in the theatre agrees with me and reacted the way I did, you said that about the people in theatre with you. I said no one laughed or giggled during that scene in the times I watched it. That doesnt mean they had the same reaction as me. It means, as far as I could hear, they didnt have the same reaction as you and (apparently) everyone else in the same theatre as you like you stated.

Dawes is a one dimensional character. If you would show me anywhere in the movie that displayed her having any kind of duality I will agree with you. But, as far as I could see, she is the epitome of a one dimensional character created and used for a single purpose within the story.

As for role models, there are plenty of positive female role models in film and TV that parents can use as an example for their children without letting them sit through a movie with drugs and violence.

And if you are using Dawes' character as a role model for yourself?
Well then, I dont think I have the educational qualifications to comment without causing further damage.

Then we'd have REDNECKS BEGIN and not BATMAN BEGINS.

I dig Rachel especially her alter ego Kate Holmes and my girlfriend hearts Rachel. She is obsessing and shopping online looking for the Batman leather jacket Katie has and the Batman black beret Katie sports.
I tried helping her out so I can surprise her but I found out the black beret was a gift from Ellen Degeneres and the Batman leather jacket was from Jay Leno.

on this WB Farewell review:

THE POWER THAT WB by Angel Cohn (TV Guide)

So for old time's sake I had to tune in for the WB's final night. I didnt expect to be so sad. My boss,Dan has written about the impact of the network in its 11 year history but for me so many of the WB shows werent just groundbreaking, they were like family. Buffy,Angel,Dawson's Creek and Felicity were the ones that the network chose for its farewell party, I might have opted for Everwood and Charmed instead of Angel, just to break up the Vampire slaying, but watching four pilots brought up so many fond memories. It was, however a little surreal to rewatch these shows knowing everything we learned about the characters during the course of their series.

...Finally, there was Dawso's Creek, out of the four this was the one that stood out so watching the pilot was a sweet treat again.Little Joey Potter talking to Dawson about walking the dog seemed edgy then but hearing how kids talk these days it just seems quaint. These days many associate Katie with Tom Cruise and Batman but Katie Holmes has always been absolutely adorable. From Joey's shy smile, her first experience with lipstick and her verbose arguments with Dawson were still my favorites of this series. All the music just killed me because it was like a time capsule.

Speaking of which, I loved the retro promos that they ran of James Van Der Been and Scott Foley driving in a jeep. One had Scott singing Paula Cole's Dawson's Creek theme to Dawson and James asking the deep question to Scott on whom he will pick "Katie Holmes or Kerri Russell".
I was much more amuse by these than the Smallville guys running into the Michigan J.Frog.

Ah Michigan. I was delighted to see that they brought back the old mascot for the goodbye clip. I got a little misty mostly looking back at all the series that has come and gone in the past 11 years.
The WB shows meant a lot to me during my college years and just out in the real world years. Im just grateful that the WB decided to show these shows when they departed from the airways keeping it simple yet classy sendoff.
So long,WB. You'll be missed.

My thoughts: Batboy99 the critic and I agree with you that I prefer Charmed too airing than Angel but I think Warner Bros.got their favorites too and Joss Whedon's babies are one of them.
Charmed was also appropriate so its their tribute to the great Aaron Spelling who was so big in television biz.
Warner that night so highly touted Katie Holmes and their WB logos showing their pride I thought Batman would appear. Even my buddies felt the same way. Talk about sponsoring Katie Holmes.
And interestingly, Sunday night ratings belonged to Football but the WB farewell was strong for the network and especially the final hour of Dawson's Creek was the highest of the hour for the WB with an increase of 4.7%. I like to think its the power of the Batfans(Im among the losers that did tune in after football)
I know other Batman boards did they were checking out Katie's beginnings.LOL!
Btw, Scott Foley chose Katie Holmes over Kerri in answer to James question.

This was the final Goodbye clip that closed the night:

So long WB. I miss you already!

CW sounds funny and their colors green and yellow I dont care for.
The WB logo was perfect and even the black and white logos even matched that of Batman.

Nice review and the WB Goodbye clip was a classy touch and very nostalgic. Reminded me of how sad I was when X-files and Friends ended. I also watched it for Katie Holmes and she's very good.
No wonder she was a big TV star. To see her a tomboy,so innocent
and how hot was she paddling in a boat around the creek and sporting those shorts that showed off her tanned long legs.
Dawson is so gay. Katie is so WB's girl.

I'm a woman too and I would never consider Rachel Dawes a role model. She was a completely useless character and that slap was a perfect example of the stereotype of females being unable to control our emotions.

Barbara Gordon is a role model. Rachel Dawes is crap.

I'm still hoping Rachel doesn't come back. There's nowhere else for the relationship to go.

Now they have the opportunity to bring in a new female character or potential love interest.

Agreed.

Possibility of Rachel coming back is 50/50.

Now I doubt she will return, because in March she has filming of another movie, and she won't have enough time for TDK.

This is not even reported on her KH sites and she's busy for her wedding to Tom Cruise which is being kept under a close watch by the public and media. This was even old rumor that got leaked by the British tabloid.
The same tabloid reporting that Brad Pitt is taking over MI-4 and Paramount the next day called the press to say how bogus this rumor was. If you think the American tabloids from the Globe and Enquirer are bad the Brit tabloids are far worst. They also need more juicy attention grabbing stories because these tabloids are going bankrupt from the lawsuits and the majority of the public dont buy them.
They add that Tom Cruise is the producer of the biopic and many are already mocking it that no way Tom will allow Katie having nude scenes and steamy scenes with a hot British actor.
To recall back the Brit tabloid was the same tabloid claiming that Holmes will retire from acting to be a mom and how Holmes and Bale are always calling each other on the phone driving Tom mad of jealousy.
ROTFLOL!

Please kill off Rachel Dawes for the love of God! She was the only thing in Batman Begins I didn't like!

*sheds a tear watching that powerful vid*

I feel so grown up watching that goodbye clip. LOLOL!

BTW- the Beckham Katie biopic was denied by the reps of TC on CNN and
MSNBC same goes with the Brad Pitt MI-4 rumors by the Paramount reps.
Russell Crowe also slammed the tabloids on CNN about the Steve Irwin biopic.

It's really for the best that Holmes doesn't return.

It's for the best that the Batman franchise has nothing to do with the Holmes/Cruise fiasco.

I heart Katie as Dawes and her relationship with Bruce was played well.
It wasn't too much but very credible. It also does not phony up to the Hollywood cheesy standards. If only she's back.
